Plot: barney bj and baby bop welcome you to the world of imagination and barney's house. They play a wonderful game of pirates (with outfits to match) and turn the inside of barney's living room/kitchen into an island! But bj accidentally stumbled upon a note in a bottle that has a spooky message from rainbow beard the pirate! Saying there's a lost treasure on the island and nobody has found it. So barney and the group set off to find it with a few surprises along the way!

This is the first episode ever in the entire barney franchise where we see barney turn into a toy on screen.
Barney's house originally debuted in come on over to barney's house and was supposed to be the new set for season 7 but was ditched for a park but now the house returns starting in this episode.
When bj read the story of rainbow beard the pirate there was a reference to an idea Stephen white pitch for a sequel to imagination island where rainbow beard tried to steal all the colors from it.
Barney's pirate outfit is from imagination island. Bjs outfit is from the 2011 imagination island dvd cover but his pirate hat is from barney's treasure hunt book. Baby bops pirate outfit is from barney's treasure hunt book.
