the medicine

"Good she had us all worried"
Esmeralda looks at the 2 people in front of her and recognizes them as Tara and the doctor.
"What happened?" Esmeralda asks them and she starts coughing. The nurse gets her some water.
"We aren't sure you were fine one minute and then the next you took a turn. The accident caused brain damage which caused you to have a seizure." The doctor says looking at Esmeralda.

"Since you are having seizures we are going to have you on medicine and you will stay here so we can watch you," said the doctor.

"The nurse looks at Esmeralda I can check on you every day," she says holding Esmeralda's hand.

Esmeralda gives the nurse a small smile and then looks away. "I would like to get some sleep," Esmeralda says nearly inaudibly.
"Of course. Let us know if you need us by pressing the red button. We will have the door open as well," the doctor says standing.
The nurse puts the bear on the bed beside Esmeralda. She gets a new blanket and covers her. She follows the doctor out of the room. Esmeralda lays on the bed clutching the bear trying to remember what her parents look like to no avail.

***** 1 month later*****

There is knocking on the door.
"Come in," Esmeralda says sitting up in bed shutting off the TV. The door opens and comes in the nurse smiling and Esmeralda smiles back.
"How are you feeling today, Esme?" The nurse ask Esmeralda.
"I'm doing good. How about you,  Tara," Esmeralda ask the nurse.
"I'm doing good." She looks at Esmeralda upset, " I'm sorry to say Esmeralda but no family has come forward and we haven't found anything out about the accident."
Esmeralda looks down and gives a small nod trying to hold back tears. Tara sits at Esmeralda's bed side chair and holds her hand. "I was wondering if you would like to come and live with me and I can care for you." She says having Esmeralda a small smile. "That's if you want. It is up to you."
Esmeralda looks at her and gives a small smile," yes please"
"Well we should get paperwork done and we can pack your bags. Would you like some food ?" Tara ask Esmeralda. Esmeralda nods in response.
Tara leaves and Esmeralda continues to watch TV. Tara comes back a half hour later with food and some papers and a pen. She sets the food on the bed side table so that Esmeralda can still reach it. She sits back in the chair and fills out the necessary paperwork and reads it to Esmeralda.
Esmeralda looks at Tara, "Tara can I just stay with you and not go anywhere else? I don't remember anyone or what anyone looks like, " Esmeralda says beginning to cry. Tara hugs Esmeralda trying to console her.
"If that is what you want we can ask," she says holding Esmeralda. After some time of talking a alarm goes off on Tara's phone scaring them both. Tara picks up her phone and shuts off her alarm. " I'm sorry about that I forgot I had a alarm I will be back a little later I have to go and sign in and do my starting shift rounds," Tara tells Esmeralda.
Esmeralda looks at her confused. " I thought you already were. "
Tara smiles, " no I've been coming to see you before I need to."
Esmeralda sits up on her bed more," why?" She ask savanna
" I love spending time with you plus everyone deserves to have someone. Plus I used to be like you and not have anyone." Tara says smiling," then you came and I wasn't alone anymore. I should get going before I get introuble. I'll be by later and we can start to pack up your things later. "
Tara leaves the room and Esmeralda turns on the TV.
