In a study conducted in 2014, it was shown that humans feared cockroaches the most, even more than mosquitoes. This was information Tim found rather perplexing. Tim knew what he feared. He feared the quiet menace of a frog looking for its meal and the swipe of the sneaky housecat. He feared the stomps of the tired human, whose vibrations racked his poor little multi-chambered heart. As they made their way to flip on those dreadful lights. And oh those lights! Even thinking about them filled his small body with terror.
"Yes," he decided, "light truly is the most fearful thing of all!"
But back to the task at hand. Tim found it odd humans feared his kind so much. Not to drag his fellow insects under the bus, but he found it more reasonable if humans were deathly terrified of mosquitoes. They literally feasted upon their blood after all! Tim did not find much to fear in cockroaches, and although it hurt to admit it, humans were much more imposing threats than any cockroach could ever hope to be.
He could only drag on humans so much however, their homes made up for it tenfold! Oh, there was nothing like being in a human's humble abode, hidden away under a dresser, or perhaps scuttling through tiny nooks and crannies. It was so much warmer than being buried under leaf litter, or a rotting stump. Warm. Oh, the euphoria! When he was carefully stashed away in that lovely place, nestled under bookshelves, or beside windows late at night, fear was the furthest thing from his mind.
