Gatlin woke up late Sunday. It was like she had a hangover but without the alcohol or drugs. Beau was in bed beside her. She pulled her blankets off and went to the bathroom.
As she was brushing her teeth, she heard a knock on her front door. There was no way that Merida was out of Mass and Takoda was still wide awake when she left at four this morning. She didn't know who it was. Another knock startled her. So she put down her toothbrush and spit put the excess toothpaste.
Gatlin opened the door and saw Jacob. "Hey sweetie, how are you?" He said with a great big smile.
Gatlin looked irritated, "What are you doing here? How did you find this place?"
"Is that anyway to talk to your father?"
"No. But I don't see him."
"Gatlin Catarina Shore." Jacob insisted.
Gatlin opened the door wider for him to come in. "Leave your suitcases out there. You're not staying here." She started her breakfast. Beau was right between her legs in case she needed him.
"Is that turkey bacon I smell?" He asked. "Fresh?"
"Yes." She said sharply. "I got it from a hunter. Cut just as thick as I like it."
Jacob smiled, "I actually came to see you. Your step father, Jeff, had me one of his buildings remodeled to a nice little home, since you want to selfish and not take care of your dad."
Gatlin stopped what she was doing. She looked at him. "Neither you or that male are my dad. My dad died." She continued with her breakfast.
"Gattie." He said as he began following her through the apartment.
"I don't really want to hear it, Jacob. You abandoned me only because of my sex. He doesn't like me because I refuse to be something I'm not. My dad loved me for me. He gave me everything he could and taught me how to succeed in life. Not you. And not Jeff. But my dad. Now you can go to your tiny house and not see me again. I have things I have to do."
"Something like being a little slut?" Jacob asked her. His grin turned grim. "And he gave you all these things but couldn't give you life? No. That was me."
She turned back to him. They were in her bedroom now, "I'm still a virgin. You might want to talk to your perfect daughter about that."
"If that's true then why are you running around till four in the morning?" He thought he caught her.
"Cause I was at my friend, Takoda's house having a bon fire with my best friend Merida and the new kid in town." She was beyond angry.
"So you were at a guy's house."
"That's non of your business. And I'm going to demand you to leave before Beau attacks you." Gatlin was searching for ways to get him out.
Jacob did weigh his options. He finally decided, "Alright, I'm out. Just remember if you get knocked up, my money doesn't cover the bastard." He left the apartment.
Gatlin sighed a sigh of relieve and got dressed. Thankfully, she remembered a shower this morning before she went to sleep. She grabbed a Reba McEntire shirt from her closet and a pair of blue jeans.
After cleaning up her breakfast, She called Takoda. "Pick up. Pick up. Pick up." She muttered to herself.
"Hello." a groggy voice said.
"Takoda. Grab Merida and meet me at Little John's in like fifteen minutes. I'll pay." She stated.
His voice, now more awake, "Anything for free food babe. Alright. I'll bring Deacon too."
Even better, she thought. She grabbed her keys and ran out the door with Beau following.
