If Only I Knew (5sos)

Chapter 2 - The place

A few days have passed, and it's now friday. I still haven't had any luck in getting Ashton to notice me yet. Oh well. I didn't want to waste time thinking about him, so when I  came home from school, I just started on my homework.

When I finished my homework, Samantha called. "What's up Sam?" I asked.

"I was just wondering if you were free right now. I want to hang out at 'The place.' The guys are coming as well." She said.

"Okay I'm coming, meet me at 'the place' in a few."

"Bye!" 

'The place' was in a park a few minutes away from my house. Samantha, Calum, Michael, Luke and I go there all the time. It's been our usual hang out place ever since we were little. We all met in year 5, when we were all in the same class. They guys were all really close, and I lived near Calum. Eventually we became friends and I introduced Samantha to the guys.

*Flashback*

It was the first day of the new school for me. I moved to from Perth to Sydney a couple months ago with my family, my best friend - Samantha - and her family. I was really lucky that Sam's mum and my mum were so close. If not, my mum would have never been able to convince Sam's mom to move with us. 

My family moved here first at the beginning of summer, and Samantha moved here towards the end of summer, yesterday as a matter of fact. So I haven't seen her once during the holidays. 

But I wasn't totally alone. I had my little brother, Oliver, and my next door neighbor, Calum Hood. I met him the first day I came here, and since then i've seen him several times. 

I found out that Calum was the same age as me, and going to the same school I was going to, so we would be in the same year, which was year 5. I haven't met his friends though, so I'm guessing i'll meet them at school today.

"Hey Calum, wait up!" I shouted as I ran out of my house. Calum and one of his friends were walking to school together, and I saw them when I got out the door.

"Oh hey Talli, are you walking to school with us? Calum asked.

I chuckled, "I guess so, I don't want to be alone." I looked over to the person beside Calum. He was blond and blue eyed. He was about the same height as Calum, which was just a couple centimeters taller than me. 

He noticed me looking and smiled awkwardly, "Hi i'm Luke..."

"Hi i'm Talli. Um....I live next door to Calum." I awkwardly smiled back.

We started a conversation about school and people we wanted to be in a class with. Soon, we arrived. We all rushed into reception to check our assigned class, and apparently we were all in the same one! 

The three of us walked into our classroom, and I went over to sit next to Samantha. Calum and Luke followed me, along with Michael, another one of Calum's friends. 

"Samantha! I missed you!" I said, grinning like an idiot. 

She pulled me into a tight hug, "I missed you more!" She exclaimed.         

We pulled apart and I looked over to Calum, Luke and Michael, who were just standing there waiting to be introduced. 

I smiled, looking back to Sam, who stood there confused. "Sam, meet Calum, Luke and Michael. Calum's the guy who lives next door to me."

"Oh...Hey guys, nice to meet you!" Sam said smiling widely. She was never shy. Sometimes I wish I was as confident as her.

We all sat down together on a table as the bell rang, and our teacher came in.

*Flashback ends*

A few minutes later I arrived at the park, and I saw Samantha with her dog, Matty. She saw me, and smiled.

We walked to the back of the park, behind the large children's castle playground, through a few bushes and trees, under a hole in the fence, and into a triangular area covered in leaves and rocks. 

This was 'The place'. A little secret hideout that only Sam, Calum, Michael, Luke and I knew about. We found this was the perfect place to get together and escape from our lives. 

We were secluded in this triangular hiding place by massive trees and full bushes all around us. The only entrance was the hole in the fence that we closed up with rocks whenever we went in or out of 'The place'. No one else has stepped foot in here since we found this place 6 years ago. 

At least I thought so.
