Tris' POV
I was sitting at my desk, doing my math homework. It was raining outside, so I had nothing better to do anyways...well, I did, but I promised my grandma that I would write my homework (or a part of it) today.
I chewed on my pen and squinted my eyes at the numbers on the paper. Was this even humanly possible? No, it wasn't.
My eyes drifted to the window. I hadn't seen Luke in two days, maybe he locked himself inside the house or I just wasn't paying attention. Anyway, it didn't bother me. I was happy to say the least about not seeing him.
I pulled my knees to my chest, resting them at the edge of the seat, trying to solve the problem. It was a lost cause.
I slammed my notebook shut and grabbed my phone. I had no new texts, and I was glad. Luke hadn't text me since the last time I saw him.
I curled my fingers, suddenly feeling like I was cold. I went to the closet and put some socks on, before I sat on my window seat, pulling my laptop over my lap.
I sat there until lunch, when Katherine came to announce me that we were having fries. I ate a bit; I didn't want to put on any weight.
After lunch, Katherine pulled my in her room and sat down on her bed, taking off her clothes.
"Wow.", I said covering my eyes.
"I need you to help me with my outfit for tonight."
"What's tonight?", I asked confused.
"Luke's party."
"What's the occasion?"
She shrugged. "No occasion, his mother is going every week to this book club-grandma goes too, and they stay up until late at night, so when she comes home she finds a huge mess."
"Oh god, poor Mrs. Hemmings.", I said biting my lip.
"Eh, Luke really doesn't care. So! What should I dress up with?"
I looked at the choices she laid out. They were all slutty. Why wasn't I surprised...
I pointed to the tight black dress that went with her black wedges. She smiled, and pulled the dress on, before turning to look in the mirror.
I sat down on the bed and watched her. She turned to look at me.
"What are you going to wear?"
"What? I'm not coming."
"Oh yes you are."
"I wasn't even invited."
"Doesn't matter. You're coming tonight and that's that."
"Fine."
"You're going to wear a dress I hope you know that."
I rolled my eyes. She was getting on my nerves.
"Yeah I'm not going to wear a dress.", I mumbled and watched her as she went to her closet
She huffed and threw me a crop top and some skinny jeans. She then instructed me to get one of my wedges and then I'd look presentable. I didn't want to go to the party or whatever it was at all, but I also didn't want the whole neighborhood making fun of me for being antisocial.
Grandma left two hours later with grandpa, so Katherine and I were alone. She was texting someone back and forth, probably Luke. I was chewing on my bottom lip, looking at the ticking clock on the wall in the living room. We had to be there at 9pm, and it was 08:55pm.
Katherine was just finishing her makeup in the mirror as I was playing Temple Run on my phone. I tried to ignore my increased heartbeat, thinking of what might happen at the party. I never went to a real party before (well, except for that beach party).
"Let's go!", she exclaimed clapping when she finished her makeup.
I stood up, wobbling a bit on my wedges. We exited the house and walked across the street. We could hear the music blasting from his house. The garden was filled with people dancing and chatting. I recognized a few faces from the beach party.
Katherine greeted a few people as we walked up the stairs. She turned around to make sure I was following her. I smiled fakely and entered the house.
The living room was full of people, and so was the kitchen. I looked around for Kaylee, and saw her talking to Jade, whilst sipping from a red cup.
I licked my lips and waved at her. She smiled when she saw me and waved for me to come over. I crossed my arms across my chest and shook my head, gesturing to her that I'll join her later. Right now I wanted to find a bathroom to check if I was decent. I didn't know why.
"Hello."
I turned around to see Sean smirking down at me, a lit cigarette hanging from his lips.
"Hi.", I said blushing. He was attractive and intimidating.
"Glad you could come.", he continued, taking a drag out of his cancer stick. I took a step back, not wanting to inhale the smoke.
"Uh, yeah.", I mumbled.
I coughed a bit because of the smoke.
"Do you want a drag?", he asked.
"No.", I responded immediately.
He let out a laugh, and I asked myself what was so funny. He was watching someone behind me, so I turned around. I looked up to see Luke smirking down at me. He was wearing a red jacket, a white V-neck that showed his chest tattoos, skinny jeans and Vans. His hair was blonde now, tucked under his snapback.
