The next morning dawned, Y/N woke as soon as he felt the warmth of the sun's rays upon his face. A smile forming at the sleeping beauty in his arms. As much as this was a sight he loved to see, he couldn't help the uneasiness he felt in the pit of hus stomach.

Today was the day he would watch his mother's execution with his head held high. Proud to serve his Kindom and his people, but most of all. The woman who has his heart.

"Wanda dear." He spoke softly. Running his fingers through her soft brown locks. "We need to breakfast my beloved." He smiled when she opened her eyes. Loving the sight of her green irises in the morning sun.

"Good morning My Love." She smiled sleepily. Pecking his lips softly before detaching herself from his body. "When do we have breakfast?" She asked just as there was a knock on the door.

"Breakfast is ready Sire." Buchanan called through the heavy wooden door.

"Now." Y/N smirked making Wanda chuckle. She helped him out of bed and to get dressed in his clothes. Placing his badges and sache over his shoulder. Wanda walked towards her quarters, Y/N by her side and Margerat behind them. "Get ready my beloved and Margerat will lead you to the dining hall." With a kiss upon her cheek, he left her in the safe hands of her personal Handmaiden.

Y/N walked towards the cells with Buchanan by his side. He had a question for his mother before tye execution. He needed an answer as to why she changed. The woman he grew up to adore has completely disappeared and changed into this greedy and power hungry siren.

"Are you sure this is a good idea Sire?" Buchanan asked as they stood before the stair well leading towards the dungeon.

"I need answers Buchanan, and only she can give them." Y/N told him with certainty. Buchanan just nodded, following Y/N down the steps into the dark and murky hallway that led to the iron casted cells. He saw his mother lay on a dirty floor. Muck and straw being the only thing she could call a bed.

"Y/N. Why are you here?" She asked as she sat up.

"You look like hell." He stated as she chuckled dryly.

"You would if you had to sleep on the filthy ground." She growled as she rose as gracefully as she could to her feet. "What do you want?" She asked him once more.

"You used to be this amazing woman. A Queen who many looked up to. I looked up to you." Y/N spoke with hurt in his eyes. "What happened to her? The woman who raised me. The woman who cared for my father and me."

"She died. The moment she knew she was worth more than just K8ng Henry's wife and the mother of his sole Heir." She snarled as Y/N just watched her talk about his father with such disdain.

"You are a stranger to me." He told her as he stood tall. "I will be there to watch your execution. Not as your son, but as the Heir to the Throne who has his duties to the Kingdom and the people within it."

"Am I not one of those people?" She asked him.

"You became the enemy the moment you organised a war to kill my father and I." He told her before he left. Listening to her yell hateful words behind him.

"Are you ok Sire?" Buchanan asked as they stepped on the stairwell.

"I am Buchanan." Y/N told him. "Do you know of any Guard's worthy to become the ne Queen's Guard?"

"Romanoff." Buchanan spoke with determination. "She is highly trained in battle and she is very attentive to her surroundings. She is better than myself."

"Well, as of the morrow, I shall request a meeting with her." He told him. "My soon to be Queen deserves the best guards in the Kingdom."

"But it is the King who is of main importance." Buchanan defended.

"Behind every great King is an even greater Queen." Y/N told him before the two joined King Henry and Wanda in the dining hall. The three eating their breakfast in silence.

Soon enough, the courtyard had filled up with the people of the Kingdom. Ready to watch justice at it's finest. Wanda stood beside Y/N, her arm linked with his. Watching as the King addressed the Kingdom of the crimes committed by the Queen and Arch Bishop Rogers.

Everyone watched as the two were brought up to the guillotine. Both were forced onto their knees and the heads forced down. The Queen made eye contact with her son. A look of disgust as she saw Wanda stood beside him.

The execution was quick, but the sound of the metal blade severing the flesh, the heads falling into the baskets before them. Y/N didn't flinch at all when he watch the stranger in his mother's body die. He didn't feel any emotion such as sadness or grief. He felt free. He was free of his mother's decisions for him. Free to love the Queen he fell for.

Ready for the next step in his life. The Wedding.
