A/N: So. I started writing this story a long time ago, before S4 was released, and as such, when I included Zoé in my story, she was an OC. She's a bit different in canon, but I semi-liked her character in the show better than my OC, so I'm using Zoé Lee for this story. But I still feel like she was my character first...

Anyways, I already kinda spoiled this chapter, so enjoy! (Sorry for the wait.)

Marinette P.O.V.

The weather is really nice out today, but maybe that's the weekend talking in my mind. But the breeze is strong and sweet, the sun nice and warm in the early summer weeks. It's just perfect... for me to take the remainder of my day off before the welcoming ceremony this afternoon.

Typically I could never get up so early, not enough to get places in the early hours of the day. But the beach is calling, and so is my alarm, so I'm up at sept heures précises, getting ready for my morning. The balcony is already open, letting the early sunlight reflect off the ocean in the distance and into our room.

My roommate groans as I step back outside into the warm sunshine, soaking it in a bit longer. Summer always means that my favorite season is over, but at least it brings the excitement of vacation soon. Maybe the city will let me go back to Paris to visit my family and friends. Especially a certain person who I've been dreaming about since I got on that train six months ago.

"Marinette," I hear again from behind me; her voice is a tired groan as she joins me on the balcony. "It's way too early for this."

"I don't have my whole day free, so it's an early-morning beach day." I shrug, leaning against the railing. "So, you coming or not?"

"Fine, fine." My roommate, Zoé Lee, steps back into our dorm with a heavy yawn. "You know, you're lucky I'm always up for going to the beach."

Zoé was my first and closest friend here, as she ended up giving me a tour on my first day, was the first person to find out everything I had been accused of, and had still let me tell my side of the story anyways. And if she could become my friend on a bad day like that... well, I knew I could trust her almost immediately.

"Why did you sign up to help out so much with the tournament, then? I thought you said you were only participating in the theatre category if they have it this time around?" Zoé calls out to the balcony, her voice still sounding incredibly drowsy. "I hope they do. I've been waiting two years-"

"They have to this year," I reply, leaning on the railing and closing my eyes for a moment. "They already switched up the performing arts category last year to fit in sculpting." Which was how Theo Barbot was hired to sculpt the superhero statue in the park back in Paris, come to think of it. I heard they tore it down and redid it, but I haven't checked to see what it looks like now.

"Well, anyways, why do you have to volunteer so much for something you're not really doing?"

"I like organizing events. And I feel like it would be nice to give a tour of Bellerose-- yours didn't do the school justice when you showed me around."

"We got to everything after a few days," she complains, stepping back out in a black-and-white sundress. "Now come on, or it's going to get crowded."

"Merci." But as we cross through the room, by the dresser we share, I reach out instinctively and open the box containing my diary. Taped to the lid is, naturally... the one picture I have of Cat Noir. Nino sent it to me, said it was something Cat Noir had of us that he wanted to pass on, while I was on the train, and when I saw it, I just started crying all over again.
