On May 17th, 2018 Alice Cameron was murdered. In a sick and twisted jealousy filled attack, she was trapped in an ice bath and drowned. All because she'd beaten out Jessica Hartley for a spot at the Royal Ballet School in London. Oh, and because she happened to be dating the boy Jessica had been pining after since the 5th grade, Spencer MacKay.
Well, obviously she wasn't dating him anymore now that she was officially declared dead. When people say drowning is one of if not the worst way to die, they aren't lying. The fighting feeling that overtakes until the body just... gives up. Add that to freezing cold water and the fight becomes even more gruesome.
Now, sure, Jessica was found guilty and locked away, along with her friend Bridget who had helped, but that doesn't make Alice any less dead.
Or, any less stuck.
Because the thing is, when someone dies... their ghost sticks around. They don't just get to rest peacefully, oh no, they get to watch as everyone they once knew continues on with their lives. And Alice was stuck at the very school she'd been murdered in.
She was stuck for all eternity to watch as class after class graduated and left Split River, all while she couldn't even leave the high school. She got to see her dream escape her, out of reach.
And worst of all, she had to watch as her little sister went year after year walking through the very halls she once walked herself. Never knowing her older sister was right there, that she'd always been there.
And then Maddie Nears shows up at one of the ghost group sessions, dead. Or, to the people still living and breathing, missing. And with Maddie, weird shit begins to happen that has never occurred before. Which, by the way, Alice isn't too sure she wants to dig into.
From a ghost with no knowledge of how she died, to secrets that have been buried deep for years, all the way to a cute, dead, football player that decided he and Alice were going to be a kick-ass ghost duo, Alice Cameron never knew how eventful death would be.
Maybe Maddie Nears arrival is just what Alice needs to finally cross over and end this never-ending afterlife. Or, at least make it livable.
