Lia's POV
I looked at Seun-yong in fear. His eyes turning to the color red was the scariest thing I ever saw. And he said he wanted my blood that just made my stomach turn. What the hell kind of monster was I walking with? One minute we were talking openly and he handed me back my father's knife, the next he was like that. It didn't make any sense! I wanted to be afraid of him, to run away, but Cristian kept him from me. I was so mad for him lying to me. Why did Seun-yong lie to me all this time? Why couldn't he tell me about this part of him too? Was he afraid that I would hate him?
I realized that everything he said was true. The government had been experimenting on them. They turned the original Tainted into blood hungry monsters. This was all our doing! And now there was a chance he was never going to speak or look at me again. But I had to stop him from hurting Cristian, from walking away from us both. I needed him to understand that yes, I was afraid of what he was, but I wasn't going to give up on him now. "Stop Seun-yong!" I finally yelled. I sniffled as the tears fell from my eyes. "Just talk to me!"
He turned to me with such hatred in his eyes. This wasn't the Seun-yong I knew and loved. Oh god! I loved him. I widened my eyes as I slowly backed away, so scared that Seun-yong would do something he would regret later down the road. "Back off and stay out of this Lia." He spat.
I closed my eyes and cried as I backed away. I turned on my heel and ran back to camp. When I got there Jackson and August stopped me.
"What happened?" August asked as I shook my head.
"Lia, what happened out there?" Jackson asked. "We heard you shriek."
My lip quivered, "Seun-yong. He is...iss...." I couldn't finish my sentence.
August closed his eyes and sighed, "He wanted blood didn't he?" he asked calmly.
I looked at him in shock, "What?"
"The experiments, they made us vampires. When we first changed, we weren't like this. Seun-yong, his hunger is stronger than ours. He's been keeping it in check, but all this anger, all these emotions from you and Mercy, it's messing with his head."
I sniffled, "Maybe Kadence is right. May Mercy and I need to die so that it doesn't make any of you worse?"
August grabs my arm and pulls me closer to him, "Are you insane Lia? You and Mercy didn't do this to us. The people that experimented on us did. Just because you make us feel more than we did, it doesn't make it your fault. So never, ever say that you need to die again, alright?"
I nod. I stood there with them as Seun-yong and Cristian came back to the camp. Seun-yong was furious and Cristian was trying to get him to calm down. I gasped as Seun-yong turned and punched Cristian in the face, forcing him to fall to the ground on his back. I was furious! Never in my life had I felt such anger! Enough was enough. I was done being afraid. I was done watching this group fall apart. It was time I confronted the monster I loved, and hell be damned if he was not going to listen.
I marched up to him and jabbed a finger into his chest, glowering, "First off, enough!" I yelled, "Second, who the hell cares what you are! Get it in your head; I am not scared of you Seun-yong. Dammit! I love you!"
He smirked at me. The bastard. He actually thought I was going to back down. Boy! Did he have it coming? It was time I showed him and the rest that I was not some weak, little girl.
