"You my little darling are my beautiful angel, you are" His deep voice lulling her to sleep.
"Then why don't I have any wings daddy?" The little 7 year old asked trying to stifle a yawn.
"Well that is because you are only three quarters of an angel, Your human part hides your beauty from people wanting to steal it."
"I'm ugly then? And why would they want to steal it?"
The man chuckled as he brushed the little girls soft brown hair from her face.
"You are the most beautiful child in the world, little one. But if you show your wings to the world, jealous and greedy people would want them for themselves."
"Greedy people are silly." The little girl said hugging her toy rabbit, Boppy.
"Indeed they are, little one." The man laughed again. His deep voice reverberating in his throat always calmed down the little girl.
"Did you know, once upon a time there were 7 angles?" The girl loved it when her daddy told her stories it even contrasted well with the pitter patter of rain outside.
The man continued, "They all lived in a beautiful realm in the sky above the clouds. They looked down upon the humans and watched as each person lived their lives, saw the good and the bad. They saw that humans were very compassionate and could love very much, but also saw that they could hate and be very greedy. They thought of the humans lives as being something precious but also fragile. One time the angels wanted to come down to meet the humans. When they came down some of them fell in love and had children. But, one time..."
"You know she has to go to bed now. It will be imposible to get her up in the morning."
"Mummy!" The little girl squealed.
The kind lady walked through the door into light yellow room. She had a soft smile and shared the same dark emerald green eyes as her daughter.
"Come on honey. It is her birthday after all." The man stood up and walked to his wife.
"Well, we better give her, her last gift then?"
"Gift!" The little girl tucked in her bed shot up.
The woman brought out a gift she was hiding behind her back and both the man and the woman walked over. Her smile shot to her ears as she waited to open her present.
"Open it" The lady said.
The little girl ripped the paper off revealing a dark leather bound book.
"A book?" The little girl said confused, she was a bit disappointed.
"Yes, a book. If you looked inside it tells you all about angels and the past, present and future."
The little girls face lit up, She loved angels and loved it even more when her daddy told her stories of them.
"Goodnight little one" The lady and man said, planting a kiss on the little girls forehead. They turned around and started walking out of the room.
"Wait! I want to say goodnight to the baby!"
The lady walked back to the little girls bed.
"Goodnight." The girl whispered into the lady's tummy, putting one of her small hands onto it. She lay back down into bed and closed her eyes.
The man and lady walked back out of her room and proceded to walk down to the lounge room. The little girl snuggled further down into her warm bed sheets, cuddling her bunny.
What seemed like only moments later there was a huge howl of thunder. This sounded a little different though, it sounded more like crackling hidden by the loud clashes. Outside the gate creaked open.
Daddy always keeps the gate shut tight. The girl thought. She hopped out of bed and looked outside her window. The man who had just tucked the girl in, was now standing outside. Not alone though, there seemed to be some sort of shadow standing infront of him. The shadow must of said something to the man because he nodded his head in respons. He quickly looked up at the litle girl, a look of sadness, regret and fear. That can't be right, daddy is never afraid of anything. Thought the girl.
A huge bright flash appeared, making the girl shield her eyes. Only a second later the man and the shadow was gone.
The little girl, confused and a little scared quickly ran back to her bed and hid under the covers. It is just my imagination, go to sleep. The girl repeated this sentence over and over in her head until she did fall fast asleep.
