The Angel's realm (On Hold)

Chapter 1. Birthday stories.

8 years have passed now since that night. I knew it was all just a childish dream, I probably just made it up to explain why my dad left us. Me, my mum Angelina and her unborn child. She was born 8  months after his disappearance. I still don't know why he left. Last time I think I remember seeing him he was so happy and I felt as though he loved us all.

I occasionally get a birthday card but never do I actually see him. Today is now my 15th Birthday. I still keep the book he gave me. Even though he is gone I still believe he cared for me. I never know what to feel and think. Was he good or bad? Sadly things aren't that easy and clear.

Everyday on my Birthday I always read one of the chapters in the book, Now that Ava is old enough to understand stories and is the perfect age to read to I will occasionally read a chapter or two to her. She shares the same love for Angels that I still hold.

"Happy Birfday Ariana!" Ava said with a lisp, her front teeth had just falen out, it is absolutely adorable but it also  makes her new favorite tune "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth" which she non-stop repeats. She is cute and annoying like that, but her puppy dog eyes make you melt.

"Morning Ava" Yawning I sit up and groggily look around. Ava was standing at the end of my bed, Her gappy smile beaming.

"Up, Up! Get Up!" She quickly grabbed the ends of my sheets and quilt and quickly pulled it off, before I could stop her.

"Hey! Its cold." Ava quickly ran out of my room giggling, she knows I will get her back, It often ends with me tickling her. Its not much of a punishment as she loves it and thinks it of a game. Besides Mum and  I couldn't punish her anyway with out feeling guilty. She too has a tough childhood without her dad. She often comes home from primary school asking questions like 'Who is my daddy?' or 'Why don't I have a daddy? Everyone else has one.' Apart from that I think she is coping well.

"Coming to get you" I quickly jumped out of bed and failed as my legs were still practically jelly. Picking myself up I continued running out and down to the kitchen.

"Happy Birthday to you.." Mum and Ava were waiting downstairs holding a cake with lits candles on. A huge smile crept onto my face as I grabbed a stool and sat down by the bench.

"Blow your candles out darling" Taking in a deep breath I closed my eyes, blew and made a wish. Every year was the same wish, for something to change. I wasn't sure what I wanted to change I just feel something is missing. Probably my father but to make sure I did not jinx myself I would also add all the things I did not want to change and do the whole 'touch wood' thing.

"YAY! fifteen!" Ava was definately a very excitable person. "Ooh Wait a second." She quickly went running off into a different room as fast as her little legs could carry her.

"Happy birthday sweetheart" Mum brushed a piece of my hair down that was sticking up.

"Thanks Mum!" Giving her a tight hug. She is always there for me, even with dads disappearance. She coped well with it and was strong and determined. Unlike what others say where the majority of the time the wife goes into depression and doesn't get out of bed, mum was the opposite. It wasn't because she didn't care for him, You can see the love she has for him but she has always been strong willed.

"You will be thanking me a lot more when you tuck into this cake!" She chuckled. I hadn't actually focused on the cake and now that mum mentioned it, that cake looked mouth watering. I swear I was almost drooling.

"Got it! It wa-th under my bed." Her speech is just adorable, I tried to hide back a giggle. Ava came running back in carrying a wrapped box.

"For you. Happy Birthday!" She shoved the gift into my hands so I couldn't refuse to open it later. Giving her a tight hug. Tearing open the pink wrapping paper it revealed a small white box with stickers and drawings covering it.
