The door bell rang. I paused and waited, I'm not allowed to answer the for no one. Not Memaw, Not Papaw, Not Ma. No one. Ma always did it since Memaw was older and she liked to sleep during the day most times. It rang again this time, whoever was behind the door, sounded frantic or maybe annoyed? I'm not to good at reading the room.

I could hear Ma walking down the stairs with an annoyed sigh. She didn't know who it was either. She looked at me. I looked at her. I understand what she was asking and grabbed the butcher knife that hides in my back pocket at all times, with a protective shield of course. I walk out of the kitchen and around the corner so that I can't be seen by the outside people. I've done this millions of times, it's an instinct now.

Ma sighs once more and looks away from my new hiding spot. I could hear the door locks being unlocked one by one. Click...Click... Click. I took of the shield, letting the blade shine in all its glory. Click. The door slowly creaked open. I held my breath, waiting for any signs that I need to plunge this beautiful blade into some demons chest.

We called all who wanted to take me away from Ma demons. All they want is to cause us harm. I won't let that happen. I will kill the awful monster before I let it hurt my Ma.

A squeal is the only way that I can describe what I heard. It wasn't a bad noise nor a good one? I'm so confused. Should I..? Do I strike? I don't know. Well, I guess not? Hm.

I put the shield back over the knife and take a peek around the corner. There is.. a lot of people... all boys. I looked over to Ma for help on understanding only to meet the eyes of a very burnt man. He smirked at me and I quickly hid again.

"[Name]. Come on out. It's not very polite to hide from our guests." My eyes widen. Ma seemed upset but not? Like I could hear the annoyance in her voice though hidden?

I straightened up and turned the corner. I looked directly at Ma and Ma only. Waiting for instructions. She only looked at me with.. disappointment. My shoulders fell and I decided that looking at her wasn't the best idea anymore.

"You seem nervous doll~ Is it us?~"  I blinked at the talking doll in front of me. I don't really know how to respond so I just nod. He was right. Their presence was new and different, different made me uncomfortable.

"It- It's us?!" Another voice chimed in as snickers and giggles erupted within the large group. I looked up to put a face with the voice. He was fidgety, the poor boy looked like he was going to cry. His short brown hair held sweat and possible rain from last night. He looked past me in confusion. Never meeting my curious eyes.

I decided that explaining would help.
"Yes. You're new. All of you. New is different and different makes me.. nervous? Nervous." I could see him relax with a small sigh escaping his lips. I tilted my head to the side slightly in confusion, unaware of the softened eyes looking my way.

A hand gripped my shoulder tightly. It was Ma and I knew it. She knew that I knew it was her too. I slowly turned my head to meet her gaze, only to be met with one that held hate. I flinched slightly at the sight. Ma... hates me? No. No she doesn't. Ma loves me. Always. No matter what. She has to. I'm her son. She has to love me. She loves me. She loves me. She loves me. SHE. LOVES. ME.

Or does she...?
