Choi Mujin walked into his office in Dongcheon and saw Jung Taeju was already standing in front of his desk, waiting for him. He took away his coat and hung it on the wooden hook then walked towards his desk and lit a cigarette.
"What is it?" Choi Mujin glanced and asked his assistant. He knew from Taeju's face that something urgent came up. He walked around his desk then sat on his leather chair.
"I'm afraid there will be a delay on Bangkok's delivery, Sir," Taeju dropped the news he knew would make his boss indignant.
Choi Mujin winched and the edge of his lips twitched, which Taeju learnt as one of the most obvious signs that his boss was peeved.
"What now?" Mujin growled then puffed his cigarette. "This has happened twice."
"There was an issue with Luzon Strait's marine police. Mr. Phet had solved it and guaranteed us himself there would not be any deficiency like the last time."
Mujin grunted. He knew no one could be trusted in this field.
"Call him. I want him to be there when we check the goods when it arrived."
Taeju nodded.
"And tell him that I will fucking shoot him on the head if there was any discrepancy, even the slightest one. Two chances are more than enough for him."
"Yes, Boss."
"Good," Mujin put out his cigarette. "Anything else?" he asked. He looked at the legal documents he needed to review and signed that his attorney left on his table earlier this morning. Those need to be done today.
"I just need to remind you about the awards gala tomorrow evening, Sir," Taeju handed over his tablet, showing the details of the mentioned event.
"The annual one?" Mujin asked nonchalantly as he already started reading the papers. "You know I don't do those kind of thing," he said again but still took the tablet from Taeju.
As the owner of Liber Hotel, Mujin was often invited to such events, involving other businessmen and their partners. Including this one, the annual travel awards which designed to recognize the best companies in hospitality and tourism industry, including hotels, tourism companies, and others. But Mujin rarely attend in person and would ask Taeju or the other BODs to attend. Considering his ownership of Liber was only a cover up for his cartel, the less he was seen publicly, the better.
"Yes, Sir. I will ask Ms. Kang or Mr. Yoon to attend then."
"Hmm," Mujin mumbled as skimming through the details written on the tablet. He initially did not really pay much attention but then suddenly stunned. He blinked several time, as if he need to ensure he was reading correctly.
"There are several new partners that will attend Sir, such as travel company from Diamond Group and resorts from H group," Taeju explained as he saw his boss keep staring at the tablet, thinking there might be some new names caught his attention but his boss was remained silent.
"Taeju-ya," Mujin said after a few minutes.
"Yes, Boss?"
"I'll go," he said. His voice was hoarse and doubtful but fortunately went unnoticed by Taeju because the man was too surprised by his boss' reply.
"Sir?" he asked, ensure he heard it right.
Mujin grunted, hated to repeat himself. "I'll go to the gala," he handed the tablet.
Caught his boss' irritated voice, Taeju hurriedly took the tablet, bowed, turned around then left in confusion. This would be the first in several years Choi Mujin came to such event which made Taeju could not help but wondering what the reason was. But the man was wise, he chose to stay silent and just complied with his boss.
Upon Taeju's leave, Mujin let out a sigh and leaned his back on the chair. His mind went through the guest list he just read then smiled faintly.
The travel company he had been watching for years, which recently skyrocketed their business, was listed. It was not surprising actually, considering it was under a big group but they really have been proving their strength. But his interest in them had absolutely nothing to do with business. It was something else. Something personal.
He was well aware that his attendance might caused troubles. It would be easier if he turned a blind eye and held back his feeling, let his directors to attend the gala as usual. But maybe, after so many years of trying so hard, this time he gave up. He could not hold the urge to finally meet the person whose name caught his attention on the list. The person he once believed was better than him.
So much better that he let go and entrusted the one who meant the world to him, fifteen years ago.

"You look beautiful tonight, baby," Kim Haejoon whispered to his wife's ears and gave her a little peck on a cheek, made her giggled.
Sun Hyejin smiled brightly to her husband and took his arm, held it with her tiny hands.
"Are you nervous?" Haejoon noticed her shaky eyes.
"Honestly, a little," Hyejin chuckled.
Haejoon squeezed her hand. "I know you're not comfortable being in a crowd, but bare with me just for tonight, please? I need you."
Hyejin kissed her husband's arm, tried to calm him. She could feel that her husband was actually more nervous than her. "I'm here, babe," she said with the warmest smile.
Hyejin knew very well that being invited to this award ceremony was very important to her husband. For his business. Universe Travel, his company, might not win any awards tonight but being invited already meant that they were qualified. It was undeniable that her father-in-law played a big role, but Haejoon's effort clearly cannot be underappreciated. Her father-in-law may have given the access and network, but it was her husband's persistence that finally paid off, so that his travel business deserved to be invited to this level of recognition.
They entered the hall where the invited guests gathered before entering the award room whilst holding hands. Hyejin felt her husband's hand was sweaty and squeezed it tighter. They were still looking around when Haejoon spotted Kim Sungjoon, his father, across the room. His father was hanging out with some people who obviously looked important and wealthy, just like him. Sungjoon noticed their presence and waved his hand, signaling them to come.
"That's dad," Haejoon whispered to his wife. "Come on," he said and started walking towards his father.
Hyejin walked behind her husband and secretly stroked his back with a proud smile. She was very proud of Haejoon and all his achievements. She knew how hard he worked for this. She grew even more proud as she watched her husband confidently, with his firm voice, introduced himself to his father's associates. He might be easily nervous at first but when circumstances require, he would easily transform into a charismatic and assertive man, character that was no doubt very helpful for his business, which she always adored.
"And this is my wife, Sun Hyejin," Haejoon turned his back to reach Hyejin, placed his hand on her tiny waist and gently pulled her beside him. He smiled widely, proud to introduce his beautiful wife to everyone.
Hyejin was ready to show her best, brightest smile but she froze mid way as she looked directly to a sharp gaze that got her attention as soon as she stepped forward. She immediately sank into those brown eyes which she quickly realized were the set of eyes she once longed for so long.
Her tongue went numb and the words she had prepared to greet those gentlemen, who all were looking at her now, vanished from her mind. She felt her chest hurt and was choked by the sudden surge of emotions that hit her as those eyes were still staring at her with the way she always loved.
There, standing a man whom she thought she had managed to remove from her mind. The man who once she gave all her love, the man who once owned her and her existence, the man she thought was the love of her life.
The man who made her world revolved around him.
Choi Mujin.
