“Do you want to go with us to the mall after school?” asked Tory.

“Huh?” I looked up from my tray of food.

“I asked if you wanted to join us at the mall after school. Or are you busy unpacking?” Tory asked.

“No… No… No… I’ll go. I’ll just have to let my sister know where I am.” I told her as the bell rang.

“I’ll see you in Pre-Calc.” Did I forget to mention that while in Study Hall I told him the rest of my schedule? Yes? Well now you know.

“Yeah. Sure.” I said as I dumped my trash and placed the tray on the table with the rest of them.

From there, I walked with Demetri to the band room. At least the mall sounds fun.

The rest of my day went by in a blur. I walked out of Pre-Calculus with the boys who were telling me I might have to ride with the girls because Tory couldn’t stand Yasmine all that much. Guess the blondes repel one another. I didn’t mind going with them, anyway. I walked out of school with Miguel by my side. Two cars pulled up in the parking lot.

“Hey, loser! Hop in!” Skylor said after rolling down the window.

I huffed, and speed walked to the car. “I'm going to the mall with some new friends. I told Al. She said I could go.”

“You… made friends? You… actually have friends? That's new." I frowned at my sister. "I'm just kidding.Anyway, Al never texted, which is why I'm here. Do you,” I watched as Tory Nichols slid into the car that was next to Skylor's, “need a ride to the mall, though? My mentor of the week has been showing me around the Valley. Also, there's a lot of tea here. Did you know -.”

“Hey, [Y/N], you still coming with us? Oh, I'm sorry. Who's this?” If anyone asks, I did not jump at the sound of Hawk's voice.

“I'm Skylor. The cool big sister.”

“You're not being paid by the city.” And something else unimportant.

“How do you know your sister isn't being paid by the city?” I had to roll my eyes at that one.

“I'll talk to you and Al when I get home alright? Now, go. I don't want you to embarrass me.” Shit! I should not have said that. Now she's going to make it her mission to embarrass me in front of my new friends.

“I'll just invite that cute boy over for dinner and embarrass you. I have never gotten that pleasure with any boy you like.”

“I. Don't. Like. Miguel.”

“Sure. Not yet. But you think he's cute, don't you?" She smirked at me. My frown had never left my face. “Plus, we share a type. Don't tell Al. She still has hope you'll like blondes like her.”

I rolled my eyes. “Goodbye, sis.”

Skylor smiled, saluted, and drove out of the parking lot. I rolled my eyes, shook my head at her, and walked to my group of new friends who were talking to the guy in the driver's seat. Tory waved her hand to her side of the car.
