PREVIOUSLY ON Youngblood

“You’re a cute girl, and you’re a nerd?” Hawk chuckled. “Miguel hit the jackpot.” I rolled my eyes at him as I noticed out of the corner of my eye Miguel doing the dramatic why hand gesture.

What is up with everyone teasing the pair of us? Well, Miguel directly and me indirectly, but still. Why? Is it fun to tease us? It probably is fun to tease me (hence the reason my sisters do it (but that’s a sister thing)). Plus, we had only just met today. It was too early to catch feelings. Give me six months and I’ll decide then.

“Morning, [Y/N].” Al said as I came down for breakfast. “How was hanging out with your friends?”

I slid into a seat at the table. “I had a lot of fun. I think I made some friends finally.”

“What about the cute boy Skylor told me about?” my sister asked.

“There is no cute boy. Plus, if there was a cute boy involved, he wouldn't go for me.” I had not been lucky in the love department at all. I highly doubt it would change.

“Don't say that about yourself! You are a catch! A little rough about the edges maybe, but who isn't these days?" Skylor placed my breakfast in front of me. "Do you need one of us to drive you or are one of your friends driving you?”

“Miguel is picking me up.” I stabbed my egg with my fork.

“Ooh.” I did not like that tone my redheaded sister gave me. “You weaseled your way into having the cute boy drive you to school. A few more days of practice and you might weasel your way into copying his fighting moves into upgraded versions of him.”

“You should pull a Skylor and manipulate him into betraying his friends and family to help your father in his radical religious cult mission.” Al retorted.

“Not in front of my breakfast guys, and I thought you two got over that. I know my brothers did.” Before the whole evil sister thing happened.

“That's not the only thing I'm mad about!” Al hissed.

I rolled my eyes. Eventually, the two of them go back to the same argument. Al was always protective of my four brothers after she started dating my other one, and when Skylor came in with all of her plotting and scheming, Al did not like her. When Skylor found out about what Al had done, the two butted heads. They always circle back to that, eventually. I just never thought they would do it when I had a cute boy involved.

Not that Miguel Diaz was cute. He was, but I didn't think so.

I continued eating my breakfast before my phone played the cliched cartoon tone. I checked it. “Miguel's here to pick me up. Can you guys not kill each other while I am at school? I already lost my brothers. I don't wanna lose my sisters, too.”

I got up from my seat. Skylor passed me my Tervis mug. “Don't forget your coffee. You're the Snickers commercial without it.” I took it from her. “Oh, and after school, I want you home straight after. I found something that will benefit all of us.”
