The perfect silence of the night was disrupted by the sound of my phone's message alert. My perfect dream was shattered and will never return. For about a minute I sit in darkness and debate whether or not I should go back to sleep or check the message. Since I was already wide awake I chose the ladder.
My phone clattered to the beside table it was resting on, still connected to the charger. I stay in the same position that I was in when my phone hit the table, stunned at what had shown up.
I read the message in my head over and over again when it finally became reality. I pick my phone up again and read the message that showed up on the lock screen "Congratulations Harley Anderson, we enjoyed your video and invite you to participate in the 7th annual Shooting Star auditions on the 15th of August this Summer."
I felt like I was going to wake up at any second, but no, this was real, this was actually happening. A loud shriek escaped from my mouth and almost immediately both of my parents ran into my darkened room. The door flew open and the lights turned on.
"What happened?" My mom asks, almost screams. Her light blonde hair is put into a loose side braid.
"Are you okay?" My dad asks with a hint of worry in his voice. I wouldn't blame them, with the condition that I'm in. I have a rare disease called Oxyformanel Disease. It is a heart condition that puts me in constant risk of a heart attack. The medication that I need to take for it weakens the muscles in my legs to the point where I can't walk. The medicine takes away the constant pain but doesn't lessen the risk of having a heart attack at any given time.
"Ohmigod ohmigod! Look!" I crawl to the edge of my bed and practically shove my phone in their faces. I can see the fear flood on their faces blend into relief, then relief morph into excitement.
"That's amazing!" My mom says as tears form in her eyes, "I'm so proud of you. " she pulls me in for a tight hug and my dad joins in as well, speechless.

Alright, once again I've started another book. Just saying there actually is no such thing as Oxyformanel Disease, I made it up because if I used a real disease I would have to do a lot of research and that's really boring ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
