"The plane will be landing soon, please buckle your seat belts and turn off all electronics." A flight attendant's voice traveled through the plane. It was a voice much different from the previous girl who sounded exactly like Siri. This voice was very energetic, but too energetic, she talked the way a mother would talk to her baby.
The sound of the girl interrupted the story Kyle was telling me about the time he forgot his lines on stage the opening night of a play he was the lead in, in front of many people. Honestly, I was a little sad that the plane ride was coming to a close because who knows if I will ever be able to talk to Kyle again.
"Awe, I don't want it to be over!" Kyle has an over-exaggerated pout spread across his face.
"Hopefully we both end up getting picked to compete on Shooting Star," I said as I looked out of the small window to see the tiny microscopic world begin to grow.
"I hope so," takes out a notebook and pen from his book bag and he rips out a corner from a piece of paper, and grabs a pen and begins to write something down, "But since the chances are slim, here," he hands me the corner that has a bunch of numbers scrawled across it, "Just in case."
As if on cue, the plane lands. The next ten minutes were a blur and before I knew it I was making my way towards the luggage claim.
Since my bags were taking forever to come, I decided to take out the tiny corner that Kyle gave to me. I typed in the number on my iPhone and texted him.
Me: Hey! It's Harley. He texted back immediately without missing a beat. I typed his name as a new contact before reading it, I also put emojis because why not.
Kyle💫🎤: Hey harley!
Me: So, what's up?
Kyle💫🎤: The ceiling...some lights tooI can imagine the smirk on his face as I read the message. You can really get to know someone within a 6 hour flight.
Me: Very funny, I'll text you later my bags are here.
I turned my phone off and put it back into my purse. I grab my crutches and slowly stand up and make my way through the crowded airport to get to my bags. Even though they weren't really far from where I was sitting, it still felt like a million miles.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••Is anyone actually enjoying this story? If you aren't please tell me because I want to make it better. I'd rather you tell me it absolutely sucks then have you say nothing because then I won't know what to fix and that's not helping me become a better writer so please SPEAK UP
