"Scott!" Derek called out, walking down the hall.

"Yeah, in my room."

Derek swung in the doorway with a weird face.

"What?" Scott asked.

"You need to control your friend."

"Wha- oh... What'd he do this time?"

Derek sighed. "He's like a puppy. He follows me everywhere and never shuts up."

"That's just how he is. I can't really do anything. I just learned how to tune him out."

"For real?"

"Why do you think we do opposite things 24/7? I hardly hear him."

"Hmm," Derek hummed. "Alright."

"Anyways, what're you up to?"

"Stiles invited me over to his house. That's when I came in here."

"Ah, okay. Are you going to go?"

(Downstairs)

Stiles knocked on the door. Melissa opened it and smiled, welcoming him inside.

"Scott's upstairs with Derek."

"Aright, thanks!"

Stiles happily made his way up the steps and down the hall. He stopped in his tracks suddenly, eavesdropping on the conversation taking place.

"And never shuts up."

"That's just how he is. I can't do anything to change it. I just learned how to tune him out."

Stiles's excitement dropped. He felt betrayed. His best friend was really just putting up with him this whole time.

"Are you going?"

"I don't know. Maybe."

Stiles's heart raced. He felt 30 different things at once. The urge to storm in there and yell was strong, but he kept it calm.

Stiles sprung into Scott's room.

"Scottie!" He looked at Derek. "Derek."

"Hey, Stiles."

Derek nodded, but something was off. Not with him but with someone else. He observed Scott and Stiles's interaction.

"His heart's racing.." Derek thought to himself, looking at Stiles. "He couldn't have heard us.. could he?"

"Derek?" Scot repeated.

"What?"

"I asked if you were heading back with Stiles."

"Oh, uhm."

Stiles blurted, "You don't have to! It was stupid of me to invite you anyway. I'm probably a bit too forward." He rubbed his head and laughed. "I'm just going to go."

Before Derek had any time to answer completely, Stiles was out of the room.

Scott let out a sigh, as if he was now relieved. On the other hand, Derek couldn't help but feel a little guilty.
