Alex had just gotten out of the shower and gotten into some comfy clothes to sleep in; a worn out Nirvana t-shirt that was a hand-me-down from their father, a pair of bike shorts and black socks with white galaxy and star patterns sewn in. His parents and him were on a little trip around Kansas. They lived in Oklahoma so since Kansas was so close and they needed a little vacation, they went. It was starting to get into the colder months– being that it was September – and she had school but they took their mini trip during a weekend, so it wouldn’t get in the way.

They brushed their teeth before exiting the bathroom. What she saw next puzzled her.

His mother was repacking all his stuff.

“Uh.. Are we leaving..?” They asked, tilting their head slightly as they watched their mother.

“Not we, you!” His father responded, venom laced into his words heavily.

They looked up to meet his eyes. He was furious. Crap..

“What? Why?” She asked.

His father showed them their own phone, which was open to all the transgender memes they’d saved to their phone. Her heart dropped.

“Your a disgrace!” He shouted, throwing the phone at them.

It hit her shoulder before dropping onto the carpeted flooring. They grabbed the phone with tears in their eyes, rubbing the spot it hit.

His mother shoved his backpack into his arms. “Get out. Now.” She stomped over to the hotel room door and opened it.

They froze for a moment. Sure, he could stay here and try to reason, but quite frankly, he didn’t think they could. She quickly grabbed her backpack, shoes and jacket. He turned at the end of the hall and had to press himself against a wall so he didn’t collapse. They were breathing heavy, their chest felt like it was collapsing. Her whole world was caving in. As he slowly calmed down, he heard footsteps approaching. So they took off running down the stairs, skipping a few at the bottom. Running past the receptionist, she got outside. It was pouring rain and there was a distant sound of thunder, which caused him to stop at the edge of the awning. Glancing around, he tossed his phone into a nearby trash can. He couldn’t risk being tracked. They remembered all their friends phone numbers anyways. He quickly put on his Captain America themed converse and slipped on his plain black hoodie. After that, they took off running. The rain mixed in with the tears that were now running down her face, making it so she couldn’t see well. He barely even noticed that he was starting to drift into the middle of the road. And even if they did, maybe they didn’t care. Maybe it was better that way..

Sam and Dean had just finished up a case and were on the road again, heading off to who knows where. They were having their usual witty banter while Kansas played in the background. Nothing was out of the ordinary. Dean looked away from the road for a moment and when his attention came back to the road, there was someone in the middle of it. When the hell did they get there? Regardless, he swerved past, just barely missing the figure. The two looked back and saw the person collapse in spot. Their body was moving but from where they stopped it was a little hard to tell what they were doing.

“Stay here.” Sam said before getting out of the car to go check on the person.

But Dean, being the stubborn little bastard that he is, didn’t listen and got out as well, following quickly behind his brother.
