CHAPTER SEVENTY FIVE !
☆
Enid had the map in her hands, along with a black marker pen as jack looked from the front seat, and estella, carl, and liv had their heads raised from the back seat. all of them were trying to find the best route back to alexandria without passing an outpost, which was hard. rick had circled every outpost on the map before they'd left, but it seemed that the only way home was near an outpost.
they were going to lose daylight if they took any longer, and they still hadn't figured out a route. the shit part was, that rick hadn't clarified which outposts they'd taken out already, so the five of them were just left with a guessing game. it made estella nervous. she didn't want to just stand there and guess where she was going. she didn't want to leave a possibility of murdering someone to a simple 'guess.' she wanted to be certain, but she couldn't be.
"this is not practical. how did he forget to clarify which ones are now empty?" estella groaned, digging the ends of her palms into her tired eyes, letting out a loud huff.
"i love guessing games." liv sarcastically stated.
"well, we better hope lucks on our side, 'cause the only way we can go is this highway, n' through this alley 'ere. we can just hope there ain't walkers or saviours on that trail." jack said, shrugging his shoulders. even jack, who usually had a plan, didn't have a plan. his mind was simply just blank.
"no, i've got a better idea." carl said, leaning over to grab the pen from enid. "if we go here, you can stop the car. this is an outpost, so three of us can check that outpost, see if there's anybody there. if not, we'll come back and tell the two left in the car. if there is, we can take out the person at the outpost. that's one less to do in the morning."
estella wasn't sure if she liked that plan or not. she didn't like the way they'd have to sneak around to kill a saviour at an outpost. it was something she'd never admit to the teenagers, because she wanted them to think she was cool — but she was scared. she was so scared, because if this went wrong, and the saviour got them, they'd all go straight back to the sanctuary. they'd go back to negan. he probably wouldn't be so gentle on them, either.
"that's a good idea, actually. jack, drive that way, and then carl, estella and liv can go check the outpost. you and i will stay at the highway and deal with any possible walkers." enid planned.
"yeah, okay." jack nodded, starting up the car.
he began to drive, so estella sat back and looked out of the window. the highway was around a ten minute drive away, and then when they got off the highway, it would be around thirty minutes. if they were lucky, and things went smoothly, they'd get back to alexandria just as the sun went down. estella still didn't want to do the plan, but she had no choice. she was outnumbered.
