"Narnia doesn't need us to be more than we are, it needs humanity."
Lea's own writing from another Timeline could not be more true, and will no doubt continue to be true. But this quote is also an underscore of our collaborative time together: she was always the one to keep me in check, to counterbalance my dialogue with descriptions, my sweeping epic scenes with more intimate moments, and my character deconstruction with her world and character building skills. I've written with other people before her and will after her, but writing with Lea has truly been life-changing. She's as every bit as Enchanting and Radiant as her characters and counterparts are in our books, and I wish her all the best, free of malice or ill intent.
Yes, unfortunately, Lea is no longer working on the Narnia-Verse series with me. We parted ways as both writing partners and friends amicably, and each hope to learn and grow and move on.
So it's certainly timely that I find myself writing this Note, attached to what is now Lea's last solo entry in the series (unless she continues and lets me publish another one but that's far, far in the future). And it speaks to her prowess and talent that her skills are underlined in this oneshot- of balance, solace, homeostasis, and humanity.
Getting approval from her to publish this was part of the last conversations we ever had.
So, reader, if you are indeed reading this, thank you for coming this far with us. Thank you for reading through our works together.
Although this will not be the last NaturallyNarnian attributed book in the series- we planned almost every book so far ahead that she'll be rightfully credited on all of them- but as far as actual pieces of Lea writing in the series, linearly speaking, this is one of the last ones. (There's also a few bits in the book after this, Star-Blessed II!)
So take it in, enjoy it, and raise a mug of Middliwig to NaturallyNarnian.
She was and will no doubt continue to be more Narnian- and more human- than I could ever be.
