Brian's POV:

I gave y/n a quick kiss while getting up. I went through to the livingroom to see my mom in the kitchen, looking around in the fridge.

'Hey, so y/n stayed over again then?' She mumbled with her head practically in the fridge.

'Yeah, she's in my room now. I thought you'd be okay with it since you said last time that she didn't need to ask to come over'

'Yeah she doesn't. I like her, I'm glad you found yourself a girl like her.' She said while turning to face me and opening a soda she had just gotten out.

'Found myself a girl like her?'

'Yeah....come on Brian you don't seriously think i'm that stupid do you? I know you're dating.'

'Well we aren't actually...I mean we're-' I mumbled while sitting on the couch.

'Your different with her. Like you were nice but she makes you nicer. And she's funny and she tells me the embarrassing things you do which is a bonus.'

'Mom can you sit down?'

'Why? Am I being shouted at?' She smirked while walking from the kitchen to the living room. Her smile soon fell when she saw my face completely straight as I looked down at my hands. 'Brian you're scaring me, what is it?'

'It's fine, I mean it can be fine...or like- You don't need to be-'

'Brian fucking spit it out.'

'I was just...I just wanted to ask if y/n could stay for a while. I don't know how long for, just until she has somewhere else to go.' I said with a sigh while running my hand through my hair.

'Of course she can, was she kicked out?' My mom said with wide eyes.

'No, not really it was just....I mean she lives with her dad and he's....he's sort of-'

'Where's her mom?'

'She died a little over a year ago, she was ill.'

'Oh....so why can't she live with her dad?'

'Well....okay so last night we finished work and y/n had left a note to tell her dad she was out and she wasn't answering his calls. She doesn't like talking to him because he's...anyway we went over and I waited in the car then I heard her shouting me over and when I went over her dad was just trying to like....drag her back into the house. He pushed me and I pushed him and he grabbed her again, calling her a little bitch so I punched him and we ran. When we came back here she told me that before that he hit her when they were-'

'He hit her?!' My mom exclaimed, her eyes going even wider.

'Yeah across-'

'Oh my god.' She mumbled while shooting up from the couch shooting off down the corridor. 'Don't follow me Brian.'

Y/n's POV:

After Brian had gone off to talk to Lorelai I slumped back into Brian's bed and started watching his TV. It was a big favour he was asking of her so I assumed they would be a while. I wasn't 5 minutes into my episode when the door swung open with aggression, making me jump.

'Oh honey.' Lorelai cooed with wide, sympathetic eyes with her arms stretched out as she came over to the bed.

'Hi?' I said while sitting up, opening my arms to Lorelai, slightly confused.

'Brian told me what happened. Of course you can stay here, as long as you want. Hon I'm so sorry your dad is like that.' She said while wrapping one arm tight around me and stroking my hair with the other.

'I'm gonna figure something out so I can get out of your hair as fast as I can. I know it's not ideal but Brian suggested it and-'

'No, there's no rush at all, I'm being serious when I say you can stay here for as long as you need. Your dad is such an ass.'

I let out a small chuckle and lifted my head from her shoulder to thank her and as soon as I lifted my head, her brows furrowed and she sighed while resting her hand on my cheek.

'He really didn't hold back, did he?' She said while stroking the red mark on my cheek.

I looked into Lorelai's sympathetic eyes and my heart broke as my eyes welled with tears, almost instantly falling down my cheeks.

'Oh hon.' She cooed while pulling me into another tight hug.

Lorelai probably thought I was crying because she'd brought up my dad hitting me but that wasn't the case. It was because my mom was the only older woman in my life who was ever protective and sympathetic.

I had that my whole life until it was ripped away, and I was left with nothing. I didn't think it affected me that much but this was obvious proof that it did because hearing Lorelai be so worried about me, caring about my welfare, feeling her tight hugs and gentle touches. Instantly drove me to tears.

I wrapped my arms around her, hugging her tight and resting my head on her shoulder.

'Thank you Lorelai.' I said in an almost whisper while holding her as tight as I could.

I saw Brain come and stand in the doorway out of the corner of my eye, I lifted my head to look at him and Lorelai turned to see what I was looking at.

'I'll go make us something for dinner. I can't cook but I make an okay pasta.' She said while getting up, pressing a quick kiss on my head. I gave her a genuine, thankful smile as she made her way out.

'Are you alright? What made you cry?' Brian said while coming over to me and preparing himself to hold me as I sob again by sitting in front of me and holding his arms out.

'I'm okay, she's just so nice.' I said with a smile while quickly wiping the tears from my eyes with my wrist.

'Are you okay okay or just don't wanna talk about it okay?'

'I'm really okay Bri.' I smiled while pulling him toward me with his jaw, placing a few gentle kisses on his lips. 'I'm gonna go help your mom with the cooking.'

Me, Brian and Lorelai ate in the living room and watched some random policing TV show since it was already on. We only really had the TV on for background noise though because while we ate we just spoke the whole time about anything and everything. Work, school, random stories from our younger years, embarrassing stories of Brian.

It had been years since my last sit down meal with my own family. My mom was bed bound for a few months before she died and if I was going to guess I'd say my last sit down meal with my mom and dad was around two years ago. I wasn't part of Brian's family and I knew that but it was nice just to have that dynamic around me again, it was nostalgic and comforting. After we ate, me and Brian played video games for a while.

Eventually I got tired and layed down and just watched him play. I could feel myself slowly start to drift off to sleep, being slightly woken up more every time Brian would loudly sigh from frustration of missing a shot or scoff from the incompetence of the other players on his team.

After a few minutes of silence my eyes felt too heavy to keep open anymore. My eyes were closed for a total of 5 seconds before Brian started moving around, obviously closer to me since I could feel the breath from his nose lightly hit my forehead.

'Are you asleep?' He whispered. I simply hummed a quiet 'mm' noise in response and Brian let out a small chuckle from his nose before turning the TV off and laying down with me.

'What are you doing?' I mumbled sloppily, eyes still closed.

'I thought we were napping.'

'Just because I was doesn't mean you have to. Your sleep schedule is already fucked up enough.'

'One nap won't make it any worse than it already is.' Brian said while wrapping his arm around me and pulling me in so we were both on our sides, facing each other. He rested his chin against my forehead and I wrapped my arm over his side, not being able to get rid of the small smile that rested on my face.
