Sofia stared out the window of the limo in amazement as they drove through the streets of Rio de Janeiro. The city was alive with energy and color, with crowds of people dancing and singing in the streets.
Xavier leaned back against the plush leather seat of the limo, glancing over at Sofia. "So, tell me about yourself," he said, a small smile playing at the corner of his lips.
Sofia looked at him, surprised by his sudden interest in her life. "What do you want to know?" she asked, a hint of amusement in her voice.
"Everything," Xavier replied, his tone light and teasing. "Where did you grow up? What do you like to do for fun? Tell me about your family."
Sofia chuckled softly, relaxing a little as she settled back into her own seat. "Well, I grew up in a small town in Texas," she began. "I'm the oldest of three, and my parents were both immigrants from Mexico. They worked really hard to give us a good life."
"Well, it's clear you're Latina."
She smiled shyly. "Yeah."
Xavier: "What else?"
Sofia: "Um. I don't know. I'm just fumbling in the dark but I hope to one day go into business for myself."
Xavier: " Big dreams."
Sofia: "Enough about me. Why did Jenna tell me you guys were trying for a baby?"
Xavier: "Because my wife is psychotic."
Sofia: "Then why'd you marry her?"
Xavier: "Do you really want to talk about my wife right now?"
Sofia: "Yes, I do."
Xavier: "Fine. I married Jenna after I started my business. Her parents made an agreement with mine, and long story short, I married her for an investment."
Sofia: "That seems mean."
Xavier: "she agreed, Sofia. Anyway, I paid her family back their initial investment, but everything I bring up divorce, she gets all manic. She's bipolar by the way."
Sofia: "That's sad."
Xavier: "Why is it sad?"
Sofia: "I don't know it just seems like there's no romance there.... is that why you guys had no kids?"
Xavier: "We tried for a while. She had two miscarriages but kids weren't exactly my thing.
Sofia: "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to intrude."
Xavier: "Don't apologize, Sofia."
As the limo pulled up to their hotel, Sofia couldn't help but feel grateful for this unexpected connection with Xavier. It was shaping up to be a trip she wouldn't forget anytime soon.
As they stepped out of the limo and into the hotel lobby, Sofia felt like she was walking on air. Everywhere she looked, there were beautiful people and beautiful things, and she couldn't help but feel like she was living in a dream.
Xavier checked them in at the front desk, and they were soon shown to their room on the top floor of the hotel. The room was a luxurious suite with a view of the ocean, complete with a king-sized bed, a jacuzzi, and a private balcony.
Sofia felt like she was in a movie. She couldn't believe that it was all happening to her that she was in Brazil, staying in a five-star hotel with her boss.
"This is fucking fantastic." She said amazed and moved around the room. The bell boys placed their suitcases down, and Xavier gave them each a big tip.
"You like?" He asked.
