CHAPTER FOUR
So You Won't Have To ChangeThe second she got out of the helicopter, she headed to Director Ranford's office. Lorelai took off the hoodie and put it in the moving laundry bin while doing so. Her white t-shirt had new blood stains in it, but almost everyone at EHQ, except the new trainees, had grown used to it.
"Director Ranford."
"Agent Myers. I assume you completed the mission successfully." She assumed correctly.
"Yes, ma'am. No witnesses, cameras were disabled, and no trace of fingerprints." Lorelai handed the vials of the chemical to the director.
Director Ranford slid the invisible seal over Lorelai's hands. It was the easiest and fool proof way of hiding traces. "You should get yourself to the medical bay to clean up those wounds."
"By the way, how did you manage to get Luther out of the full disavowed stage?" Lorelai asked.
"Get yourself cleaned up, then I'll explain that, including your next mission." Lorelai knew she couldn't argue with the director, so she slowly walked to the medical bay.
Lorelai sat down on the gurney as she waited for them to finish patching her up. In her years of being an Eclipse Agent, she never once wondered what it'd be like at a different secret agency. Eclipse was practically everything she'd ever known. She became a trainee at age 13, lying about her age. When they looked into her file, it was too late to stop her training, besides, she was a pretty damn good agent. She was Eclipse's best agent. It was her home now. It's where she lived, she stayed in one of the rooms.
It wasn't like a five-star hotel or anything, but it was a place to sleep, and she could get quick access to coffee. Director Ranford practically took Lorelai and placed her under her wings, she was more of a parent than her biological ones. She wasn't yelled at, shot at from Ranford, it was nice. But it wasn't a childhood. Where most kids would spend their time exploring, going to school, and playing with toys, Lorelai spent hers researching techniques to defuse a bomb, being taught at the agency, and learning how to assemble a rifle with a blindfold on, plus knowing twenty-four ways to kill someone with just her right hand.
Once everything was fine, Lorelai walked back into Ranford's office, sitting down. She handed Lorelai a small file. "Prague? Is there an actual mission?"
Director Ranford sat down at her desk. "Not much to go by. I heard that the IMF is trying to do a mole hunt there, but there's rumour that there's something that we could do. There's no information yet. But, you'll have to be sent out right away."
"So, hope for the best, expect the worst?" Lorelai wondered, receiving a nod from the director.
"As for the Luther situation, IMF and EHQ came to a decision that Luther could continue to stay in the van and work with certain agents from both agencies."
Lorelai subconsciously nodded along with what Director Ranford had said. She stood up, looking back when Ranford said her name. "Lorelai, while this is a solo mission, you might want to keep an eye on the IMF. They have a mole hunt, keep an eye to make sure they're not working with our enemy."
"So, spy on them?"
"Keep an eye on them. Don't do anything unless you absolutely have to. Is that understood?" Ranford requested.
"I understand."
"And that means if one of them is good, and they ask for help, you are to help them."
Lorelai held back the urge to roll her eyes. "I thought we weren't supposed to help the other agencies." She mused.
"No, those are the terms the CIA wants. Not my terms." Director Ranford replied. "Now, go get ready."
Lorelai needs a hug.
Director Ranford's trying her best with the reckless agent.
Okay, bye!
