Slowly you begin to open your eyes, taking in the view. Greenery all around you, everything the same as it was before you fell asleep. You hear the birds chirping, the wind gently tickling your face, and you smell an aroma that you haven't smelt in a long time.

You take a deep breath, trying to figure out what that smell is. It isn't a bad smell by any means, if anything, it reminded you of something you haven't tasted in a good bit.

Now that you think of it, that kind of smells like bacon, but why would you be smelling bacon being cooked in the middle of the city. Its been completely abandoned for years as far as you know. Not a single soul living in it.

You lift yourself from the ground and standup, maybe a little too fast which caused you to get slightly light headed for a short moment. After a few moments you recover and begin to follow the scent hoping to find the source.

The last 5 years have been harsh to say the least. You've had zero interaction with anyone and have been living off the bear minimum amount of food to survive. You're also not as strong as you used to be, probably due to the malnourishment, which definitely reduces your ability to fight.

As you continue walking the scent gets stronger and stronger.

I must be getting closer, its way stronger than before.

Luckily for you, your K9 nose is very good at guiding you based on scents.

You round the corner and finally find the source of the smell. Sitting next to a small camp fire is some sort of black latex creature which seems to have a skillet in its paws. It was cooking peacefully and bobbing its head back and fourth from time to time. It seemed to be listening to music which would explain the head bobbing.

You slowly creep up on the creature taking carefully placed steps to avoid alerting it of your presence. As you get closer, you notice that the creature has a pair of large, pointed ears and a long, fluffy tail. Its eyes are closed, but you can tell that it's enjoying the music as it sways its head back and forth.

You clear your throat, not wanting to startle the creature, and it quickly opens its eyes, turning its head to look at you. Its eyes widen for a moment before it stands up, dropping the skillet in the process.

"Whoa, sorry about that! I didn't mean to startle you," you say, holding up your hands to show that you mean no harm.

The creature, which you're now certain is a latex creature, looks at you for a moment before speaking. "No worries, I'm used to being alone out here. It's rare to see someone else."

You nod in agreement, taking a step closer to the fire to warm your hands. "What are you cooking there?" you ask, the aroma making your stomach growl.

"Just some bacon and eggs," the latex creature replies, picking up the skillet and offering it to you. "Care for some?"

You hesitate for a moment, not sure if you can trust this stranger, but your hunger gets the best of you and you nod. They hand you a plate and you sit down next to the fire, savoring the taste of the bacon and eggs.

"Thank you," you say, looking up at them "I haven't had a decent meal in years."

The latex creature smiles, nodding in understanding. "I know how that feels. It's tough out here on your own."

You spend the rest of the afternoon talking with them, they eventually introduce themselves as Puro. You find that you have a lot in common and before you know it, the sun is setting.

"I should be going," Puro says, standing up and stretching his legs. "I really enjoyed your company." he says politely

You stand up as well, offering him a small smile. "Anytime."

Puro begins packing his items and once finished gave you a small wave before saying "I best be going now, it's getting quite late."

As Puro walks away, you feel a sudden sense of dread. You don't want to be alone again, not after finally experiencing some company. Without thinking, you call out to Puro.

"Wait! Can I come with you?" you ask, running to catch up with them.

Puro turns around, surprised. "Are you sure? It's not safe out here, and I can't guarantee your safety."

You nod, determined. "I'll take my chances. It's better than being alone again."

Puro smiles, their tail swishing behind them. "Alright then. Welcome to the team."
