"Everything changes

except for the trees.

And even though its leaves

fall gently,

they are still

there

and they see me

when I am sad

and when I am happy

and they don't say anything

but they notice me."

"Wow! Yasmine, that was amazing! Well done, that's an A for you, go ahead and take your seat. Next up, Sean." Oh my goodness, I almost cried. This was the first time I was able to read something to the class without hesitating. "Thank you, Mr. Rivers." Hmm, day one of 11th grade, and we're writing poems. This is gonna be good. "Well that was really nice," "Oh, thank you," I blushed as I let out a nervous giggle. "What's your name?" She had black hair a little darker than my dark brown hair, and dark blue violet eye contact lenses. "I'm Violet Winters, I noticed you just moved here from Ocarina." "Yeah, my family and I just moved to Greenbay during the summer. And now i'm attending Sunville High." She looked to the side as she smiled, "I think you'll like it here." She had a really sweet personality, but as she stood up to recite her poem, I saw what seemed to be scars of horizontal slits on her wrist. It reminded me of some teenage drama show I had watched last year. But I didn't think that people actually did that. And I was curious to know what happened to her, or what was wrong in her life.

Okay, I just have to highlight that Violet's fashion sense is actually really unique. She wore hot pink fishnet thigh highs, a black mini skirt and a baby pink long sleeve with black pentagrams, brown teddy bears and hot pink bows. "Do you have a Bimbee?" She asked. "Oh, yeah I have a Bimbee blog and it's like kawaii, soft grunge, emo, nature, animal theme." I said, "Oh, my goodness you have a Bimbee???" She asked again, excitedly. "Girls, please quiet down, Munro is about to come up and read his poem to the class.. If he can just stay awake for at least five minutes! Munro?!" Mr. Rivers exclaimed, sounding annoyed. "Oh.. what, yeah?" Munro opened up his sleepy eyes, and looked slowly to the left, and then right, seeming a bit confused. "You're up next," he said, in an uninterested monotone. "Wait.. what?" "It's the first day of class, and you slept during the entire first three quarters. I explained to the class about how we will be writing poems every week, and today you get to write about anything you wish, have anything in mind?" he asked, rolling his eyes a little. "Yeah, just give me a few minutes to come up with something. I'm sorry for falling asleep," Munro responded, apologetically. "That's okay, you have enough time to come up with something quickly before the next class begins." Munro was wearing a dark blue and black flannel, black button down shirt, and black jeans. He had dark brown eyes, and short, medium length, dark brown hair, similar to Elvis Presley. He had a black written tattoo on his collar bone but I couldn't see exactly what it said, it looked like a quote. He was a little stocky and had his skateboard standing upright against the wall next to him. "Did you wanna come over after class and play videogames at my house?" Violet asked, as the class waited for Munro to come up and recite his poem. "Aww, you play videogames, too?" "Yes! I play Timottu on my Nissamo." "Timottu?!" I exclaimed, as Mr. Rivers cleared his throat loudly, "Okay, Munro, please come up, class is almost over." Munro got up slowly, and walked towards the front of the room. "My love is a burning sun that won't go down on a Summer day. My love is everything you wanna say, but don't. Because you're afraid of what others think, I feel it every time you speak. Please don't be afraid of doing what you love, please don't ever think of things that could've been but weren't, or couldn't." I let out a small giggle as we all clapped and Mr. Rivers wiped the corner of one of his eyes, as if a tear had begun to form. "Well done, please take your seat. Now class, I will explain your homework for tonight. "Homework? On the first day? Mr. Rivers you can't be serious," Violet exclaimed. I rolled my eyes slightly, as I looked down and began to doodle something small. Mr. Rivers continued to explain that our homework tonight would be very simple, as we just had to write a short poem of what we are thankful for. "Aww, what are you drawing?" Violet asked, "just a butterfly," I giggled, "I don't know how to draw very well, but I just do it when i'm bored or something." "Oh, my boyfriend's best friend is a really great artist, but he doesn't care too much for it, it's just one of his hobbies." She pointed to Munro, he was laughing with Sean and I covered my face with my hands that were covered with my sleeves. "What?! You know him?" "Yeah, he's really nice. I've known him since middle school. You know he's always sleeping in class, but he can't help it. He has trouble sleeping at home. And it's kind of sad, how teachers always pick on him, they don't really understand," she described him as she shook her head a little and looked down at her books sitting on her desk. I noticed that one of them was entitled "Fashion Designing" and decided to quickly change the subject, "Wow, are you really into fashion?" I asked, "Kind of, I guess you could say. I'm always changing my mind with what I want to study in college," she said. "Oh, same here. I want to be a teacher but I also love animals. When I was a kid I dreamt of opening up a clothing store, but I never got far with it, I was like 10. And to be honest, I don't really know too much about fashion." "Oh my goodness, neither do I. But I guess we'll see what happens. Also, I like your sweater, it's so pretty!" "Aww thanks" I let out a warm smile. I was wearing a blue and black horizontally striped long sleeve with black jeans." Hey, do you wanna head to Valerie's after school and browse around? And then go to my house and play on my Nissamo?" She asked, "Yeah! I love shopping and videogames." I was excited to hangout with her, she seemed so nice. "Is Sean coming?" I asked, "No, he and Munro are gonna go see the new superhero movie that just came out," I let out a sigh, "ugh, I hate superhero movies," I said. "Me, too."
