Creature Of Light (A Cody Rhodes x Reader AU)

Chapter 3

That night, you and your creature of light return to your home. The creature takes in his surroundings, sitting on the couch in your living room. You still couldn't believe it. Sure, it wasn't the real Cody... But it still felt strange. "So this is your home..." You sigh. "Yes, yes it is. Do you not like it?" "Of course I like it! I didn't know you lived in a suburban home. This town... It's so tiny. I was under the impression that you lived in the city," Cody explained. "Well, in one way, it's nice because everyone knows each other. If one thing goes wrong, we can help very quickly. But at the same time, it feels very secluded here. Do the townspeople even know about the Magic Shop?" Cody thinks about it for a minute. "Oh, they do. Why do you think that cafe is so popular?" "Well, I don't know. Not everyone has the privilege to have a literal creature of light to follow them around." You turn away from Cody, embarrassed. He knew you were right. It's rare for clients to get assigned a creature of light.

Once a client gets assigned a creature, they become a guardian of light. They will always be there to protect you. Your guardian is a wrestler who has a sweet side. Cody stands up and hugs you from behind. Even though this isn't the real Cody, it still feels so real to you. The real Cody was out there with his family, living his best life. "Y/N..." He whispered. You want to cry, and yet... A calm wave of energy washes over you. That must be his power. Creatures of light each have a special power that pertains to their personality. Cody's power? Contentment. "Cody... Why did I choose you out of everyone else in this world? Why you?" "I don't know, to be honest. Is there something you see in me?" "...Nevermind."

That feeling. You're safe in your guardian's arms. Cody turns you around, keeping one hand around your waist. He uses his other hand to softly caress your face. You stare into his eyes. Those beautiful, ocean-blue eyes... Why is he so handsome? You try to break the gaze between you and Cody, and it works. "What's wrong, Y/N?" Your eyelids start to feel heavy. That's when Cody had a realization. You were becoming sleepy. So, he teleports himself and you to your bedroom. He lays you on the right side of your bed, tucking you under the covers. Then, he sits on the left side of the bed, pondering. Usually, creatures like him would watch over their assigned person at night in their energy form. But Cody liked being in his physical form. So, he kisses you on your forehead and takes off his blazer, and his shirt. Then, he lifts the blanket to go under the covers on his side.

His first instinct is to wrap his arms around you and pull you closer to his chest for safety. But he fears that you wouldn't like that right away. Darkness consumes you both... Your eyes open, and you're in the magic shop again. This must be a dream, you thought. "Oh, Y/N! It's great to see you. How are you doing today?" Hoseok asked. "I'm doing good, thanks. And you?" You replied. "Oh, I'm doing great as always! The magic shop has skyrocketed in popularity!" "Really? That's awesome!" 'It is! Some celebrities have even shown up!" "Oh?" Suddenly, the doors burst open, and a few men walk in. "Hoseok-ah!" One said, about to tackle and hug him. "Jungkookie!!" Jungkook tackles and hugs Hoseok. "Y/N, these are my friends. Jin, Jungkook, Jimin, and Namjoon... Meet Y/N L/N." "Nice to meet you, Y/N!" Namjoon puts his hand out, and you shake hands with him. Another man walks in, but a bright light covers his face. "Who's that?" You ask.

No response. Suddenly, you wake up. Daylight breaks through your window. As you look over, you find your guardian peacefully sleeping. You smile. He looks so cute... Suddenly, Cody's eyes flutter open. "Good morning, Y/N. Did you sleep well?" Uh oh, that was his morning voice. It was deep and soothing, sending signals throughout your entire body. "Morning, Cody. I had a weird dream last night." Cody sits up on the frame of the bed. "Really? What was it about?" "I saw Hoseok at the magic shop. He said it was getting more popular! I met some of his friends, then I saw... A man. But I couldn't see his face," You explain. "Hmm, that's strange." "Yeah. Anyway, I have to go. Got a lot of things to do today." You get out of bed and head to the bathroom to freshen up. Then, Cody gets out of bed and turns into his energy form at the snap of his fingers. As you step out of the bathroom, you look around. 

"Cody? Cody, where are you?!" You start to get worried. He was just here a moment ago, wasn't he? "Right here, my Y/N." A strange energy starts to wrap around you. "Well I can hear you, but I can't see you." You put your hands on your hips. Cody switches into his physical form and wraps his arms around your waist. "How about now?" "Fair point. Can I go now?" Cody kisses your forehead and switches into his energy form. You head out to do some work.
