Today was tiring—I had to wrap up everything in London as I'm finally heading back to India. But before I get into the details, let me introduce myself. I'm Krisha Malhotra, I turned 23 last month, just graduated, and completed an internship at a great company. Now, it's time to go back home.
My parents, Dev and Mahira Malhotra, are both into business and own one of the most successful companies in India. I have an older brother—he's honestly the best. He's always supported me and is following in our parents' footsteps. I'll be doing the same soon. This is my life in a nutshell.
Right now, I'm flying to Jaipur because my cousin, Rithika Di, is getting married! It's an arranged marriage, and her fiancé is a well-known businessman too. So basically, this wedding is the talk of the town.
On my way to the airport, I'm already dreaming about sleep. All that packing has drained me. A fun fact—no one except my brother knows I'm coming back for the wedding. Rithika Di was really sad thinking I wouldn't be able to make it because of the internship. Can't wait to see her face when she finds out!

Finally—I've arrived! It feels so good. Bhai sent the driver to pick me up since the wedding functions start today itself. We're staying at this resort where all the events are happening. And let me just say—Jaipur is stunning. The architecture, the food, the vibe—everything is beautiful.
Twenty minutes into the drive, we entered the resort premises, and OMG! The place is breathtaking. It's official—this is where I'm getting married someday.
As I stepped out of the car, I was welcomed in the most traditional way, with a thali and all. Then I saw Bhai walking toward me. I ran and hugged him tight—I missed him so much.
"Krishu! How are you? How was the flight?" he asked. "I'm fine, Bhai. The journey was good too. Where's everyone? Let's go and surprise them!" I said, excited. "They're in the lawn, having brunch. The ladies are applying mehendi. Let's go!"
As we walked through the royal corridors of the resort, I felt like I was in a palace.
We finally reached the lawn. I saw everyone chatting, eating, and getting mehendi applied. There was Rithika Di, sitting in the center, surrounded by women applying intricate designs on her hands and feet. The moment she saw me, her eyes widened in shock. Then, without a second thought, she ran toward me and we hugged tightly. Seeing her as a bride made my eyes tear up—happy tears.
My parents hugged me right after.
"Krushu, my baby! Mamma missed you so much," Mom said, holding back tears.
It had been four years since I last visited India. Although they visited me once in a while, this moment was special.
I greeted all the relatives, took blessings from the elders, and then met Jiju and his family. He seemed so sweet.
"Hi Krisha! It's so nice to finally meet you. Your sister wouldn't stop talking about you. She was so sad thinking you couldn't attend the wedding, but I'm glad you're here now," he said.
He then introduced me to his cousins and friends—Raghav, Arnav, Saniha, Nisha, Avyaan, Rishabh, Sia, Khushi (Avyaan's wife), Meera, and Ekansh. Everyone was so welcoming and made me feel instantly comfortable.
Then it was my turn to get mehendi done!

After that, I was starving. The food was delicious, and I ate so much I could only think about taking a nap. I went to my room and crashed.
Later that evening, Mumma walked in.
"You came back without informing me, and I'm sure you don't have any clothes for the upcoming functions," she said with a dramatic sigh. "I've asked Gauri to show us some outfits. Get ready in 5 minutes—we're going to her boutique. Don't make me wait, young lady!"
She gave me the mom look and walked out. I smiled innocently—getting ready in 5 minutes was never my thing. I searched my bags and pulled out a beautiful kurta to wear.
I headed to the reception area to meet Mumma, but she was nowhere to be seen. That's when I saw someone enter...
