Your usually neat kept hair looked rather wild and untamed, matted to your head from sweating profusely. Your headband is starting to dampen as well. Struggling to catch your breath, you fell backwards letting your body hit the earth beneath you covered by your frantic footsteps. Who knew kunai training could be so strenuous? It's as simple as throwing darts, just shinobi style, haha.
You were supposed to go home ages ago but the bet you made with Naruto kept you up all night. If only you had kept your mouth shut. But no, you just had to challenge him to a kunai throwing contest. Loser treats the winner to Ichiraku's ramen for a week and we all know how much he loves ramen. It's safe to say he's probably taking this way more seriously than you are.
You've been training with Kakashi sensei for this battle and your progress is simply astounding! But Naruto on the other hand practically has it mastered. He loves a good challenge and he's a real sore loser. It's nice having a serious rival that loves to go all out, but it can also be exhausting. This must be how Kakashi feels about his rivalry with Gai.
Your stamina is shit compared to Naruto's. Well everyone is compared to him since the Uzumaki clan is known for their incredible reservoirs of chakra. Plus he's a jinchuuriki and the hero that ended the 4th Great Shinobi War. All of these odds are what prompted you to challenge him in the first place. He's basically unbeatable.
There are six posts with targets strategically placed on different trees around you. Poor things, they're all beat up and hanging by a thread from your intense training. You hear a twisting sound followed by a crack. To your left one of the targets snaps in half and comes crashing down. Maybe that's a sign you should call it a night.
The early morning light accompanied by the sweet sound of chirping birds woke you from your slumber. Today's the big day. Will you be enjoying free ramen for a week, or will Naruto be eating out on your dime? Find out on the next episode of Dragon Ball Z!
After getting dressed, you style your hair in a cute updo and take one last lookover in the mirror before heading out. Even if you don't win, at least you'll be cute.
The streets of the village are as busy as ever. The laughter of children and different conversations fill your ears as you hop down from your patio. And the collection of food stands smell delectable. You definitely have to stop by one later on. Once a day you try a different shop to support the local small businesses.
Simple things like this is what true joy feels like. It's hard to believe that these times of peace are actually possible after all that has happened.
Now to meet everyone at the training grounds. Just up ahead are the great stone faces. Every time you see them, which is almost everyday, they inspire you to be the greatest ninja you can be.
"Y/n, wait up!" You look over to see Sakura waving you down while running over. "I'm so glad I ran into you! Are you nervous about the bet? Naruto has been talking about it all week! You have to beat him extra good so you can shut him up for once and all." Sakura laughs, her jade eyes gleaming with joy as she poked fun at her teammate.
The two of you decide to hop from rooftops to get there quicker. "Me pay for the future Hokage's ramen for an entire week? Not in this reality! Plus I've been training like crazy! I've been coming home well after 2am nearly every night since the bet." The light bags under your tired e/c eyes were a testimony to your truth.
Sakura smiled endearingly, "From one kunoichi to another, you've got this. We can't let the boys have everything!"
Deciding to pick up the pace, the two of you hightailed it until you reached the forest. Once you closed in on the training field, you could hear the rest of the other teams up ahead. Or the spectators, you can call them that. The first person you saw, or heard rather, is Naruto. That loud mouthed brat is probably bragging on how he's gonna supersize his bowls of ramen on your dime. No way Jose!

FanfictionThe story starts out with a bet between Naruto and (Y/n). Winner gets treated to Ichiraku's ramen for a week straight on the loser's dime. I do want to include a bit of romance between the MC and Sasuke so there's that as well.
