Action!

This is actually kinda nice. It's like a mission, and the two of you haven't gone on one together in ages. That's only because Naruto goes on special missions now. He has certain abilities that rank above all other shinobi in the whole world, not just the village.

Backstory time

As children, besides Shikamaru and Choji, you were the only other kid to treat Naruto like a regular person. Like him and Sasuke, you don't have parents either. They were killed during the nine tails attack on the village.

Growing up, you never blamed him for it because you saw him as nothing more than a mere child, just like you. If anything you pitied him as well because he also lost his parents in that attack.

And technically the Nine Tails assault was planned by a rogue Leaf ninja that won't be named because it's one of those things that people aren't allowed to talk about. So for the most part Naruto has always been like a brother to you.

Back to the action.

You have to get to the other side as soon as possible. There's no time to waste! Maybe your wind-style gale palm can help you get across... After weaving the signs for the shadow clone jutsu, two clones appeared behind you.

As you begin to weave the signs for your wind-style gale palm, you're interrupted by Naruto. "I know what you're thinking, Y/n. But I don't think that'll be powerful enough to stop these fish. I have a strong feeling they're gonna be real trouble."

Your lips curled up forming a grin, "I hope you're not trying to psych me out Naruto. And besides, we have to get to the other side one way or another."

The young blonde shot you a quick grin right back, "No, not at all. I was actually thinking maybe we should work together and go our separate ways once we're on the other side."

His idea doesn't sound too bad actually. If this doesn't work, that plan will be next.

"Okay, let me try this out and if it doesn't work, we'll go with your plan. Cool?"

"Yeah that's cool, do your thing."

After taking a few steps back and weaving the signs for your wind-style gale palm, extreme air pressure blasted out from the palms of your clone's hands and onto your feet as you jumped mid air to send yourself flying across the river. Rocketing over the small body of water at full speed, you started to feel hopeful like you could actually make it. Sadly that dream was cut short by one of the fish springing out of the water at you, even faster than when they came for Naruto.

In mere seconds you heard the air crackle beneath you as one of the giant glowing fish smashed into the right side of your abdomen, sending you flying to the left side of the river and nearly knocking you unconscious. Before you could cover your body with chakra to avoid sinking the second fish came flying out like a shooting star and struck you as well burning the hell out of your flesh to the point where it felt raw. The burn felt nearly acidic.

Wincing in excruciating pain from the blows, you heard Naruto screaming your name in the background before seeing his orange and black coat in a blur scoop you up and take you back to the other side.

He gently placed you on the ground before checking your wounds. Your clothes were now torn on both sides, exposing the severely burned skin there. That explains the crazy pain you felt when the fish attacked you.

"Damn Y/n, I think this is the aftermath of the chakra absorbing power Kakashi sensei mentioned earlier. Your skin looks like it's been boiled or something." The pity in his voice is enough to let you know you've been seriously injured.

He turned his head to the side, "Kakashi sensei, can I please use my nine tails healing abilities to help Y/n? In this condition I don't think she'll be able to continue in the competition."

"I'll allow it, just hurry up already. I have things to do!" Kakashi yelled back from the intercom.

Thank goodness, you'll be back in good shape in no time at all! From one moment to the next, Naruto was glowing yellow all over, brimming with his nine tailed energy! As soon as his hands met your sides, you were instantly healed and your energy was fully restored. You definitely have to pay him back for this.

Shortly afterwards, you were back on your feet and looked up at your blonde teammate. "Alright, you win. What's your plan? I know you have one and most likely it's involving hella shadow clones and a few rasengans."

The laugh that came from him could barely be restrained, "Well, those two jutsus usually get the job done so what can I say? It's my specialty, haha!"

Time to get the ball rolling for real this time!
