1993, September

The first day it's already over, and Olivia can't be more relieved. She moved a few weeks ago to town with her dad. Since the divorce between him and her mum things have been hard for both of them. Her mum stayed in California with her new boyfriend, and her dad decided to move to Pennsylvania with his sister. Olivia could've stayed in her hometown, but she couldn't let her dad alone knowing how bad he was dealing all of this situation.

She moved for him, and she is going to make an effort to fit in the community for him.

It's true that she didn't started with the good foot, this morning when she entered the school, she knew it wasn't gonna end well.

And was completely right. The first thing she did while exploring the school was fighting with a blondie cheerleader. She couldn't keep her mouth closed, no, the girl was extremely annoying and prepotent.

Now Olivia is grabbing her purple bike in hopes to arrive home as quick as possible.
She has to admit that Pennsylvania it's quite beautiful and strongly different from California. She rides between stunning family houses as her hair blows in the wind. After a 10 minutes ride, she sees her aunt's house coming near and parks her bike in the entry.

"Hi" she yells as closing the door.

"Hi sweetie, how was your first day?" Her dad asks approaching to her to give her a big hug "did you made any friends?"

"Not yet, but it was fine, I guess" 'it was hell' she thinks.

"Then I have good news to you" her dad says with a big smile "aunt Mary is friends with the neighbors of the end of the street, and they invited us to have dinner with them. Plus they have a son of your age and maybe he can show you the town."

Oh no, not another stupid cliché please.

"That's nice!" Olivia says with fake enthusiasm.

"Come on, this is the best for us, and they're so kind for inviting us dinner." continues her dad "be ready by 7"

"Lord save me" Olivia mumbles as going up the stairs.

Before she has time to realize it, it's seven already, and she's looking at herself in the mirror before exiting the door. Olivia has a personal style, she's wearing denim jeans and a with crop top, today she's going pretty basic, but that's ok with her, she doesn't even know the people she's gonna diner with so.

Her aunt, her dad and her arrives to the door of the neighbors and ring the bell. After a second a very smiling women appears opening the door.

"Good night guys, nice to meet you all!" the women hugs Mary, Olivia's aunt very excited and then turns to the other two.

"I'm guessing you're Robert, Mary's brother, right?" she also hugs Liv's dad strongly "and you must be his daughter, Olivia."

"Yes, nice to meet you" Olivia answers trying to sound happy.

"Thank you so much for inviting us dinner Cintya, we're so grateful" her father says smiling dearly.

"Oh it's nothing, i really like to meet the new people who comes to the neighborhood. Plus I though that maybe it would be good for Olivia to meet my son and daughter." The woman turns around to the stairs and calls his sons with a high tone "Conan, Gracie, come here!"

After a minute of Cintya talking without a stop again, a boy arrives next to her mum.

"Oh, this is Conan, my son, maybe you two can meet each other. Sweetie talk to her about high school or I don't know, things teenagers talk" the mother laughs with the adults at the comment "where's Gracie by the way?"

"She's in her room talking with the girls" Conan explains.

"Oh god, this girl is gonna be the death of me" Cintya rolls her eyes as she exhales deeply "well, we're gonna go to the living room. Maybe you can show Olivia your room hun."

"Sure, follow me" Conan says making a small smile as he climbs the stairs.

They arrive to a purple room, it's beautiful and full of posters on the walls.

"So, this is my room" the boy says awkwardly.

"Oh god you have tons of vinyls" Olivia looks at the shelves with passion in her eyes.

"Yeah, I really like music, maybe you can chose one and we can listen to it"

"That's fine" she says with a smile.

"So... how was your first day?" Conan questions laying on the bed.

"It was... special" answers the girl while looking for some vinyl she likes "everything was fine until this girl came up"

"Which girl?" He asks sitting quickly.

"The stereotype of a cheerleader, blonde, skinny, bright eyes, with a superiority complex" She answers rolling her eyes as she finally picks one vinyl "I think her name was Rose"

Conan gasps.

"What??" She exclaims with wide eyes.

"She's my stepsister's best friend" he comments laughing "they're like school royalty, everyone loves them" he stands up and runs to one of the shelves pulling out the yearbook from last year.

He opens it and shows it to the girl.

"She's Gracie, my stepsister" Conan points her in the cheerleaders picture from last year "she's sweet, but kinda dumb, you might think she's the best of the three but she's not. She doesn't care about literally anyone that it's not her or her friends"

"I saw her today, she was with this Rose girl" Liv explains as looking at the smiling girls in the picture.

"They're always together, you'll never see them apart from each other. Well, moving on. The blonde with the fierce look is Sabrina Carpenter. She's probably the worst, totally rude if she doesn't know you, fake to the others, narcissistic, with a gold tongue and obviously she has this huge amount of boys behind. Just annoying, don't approach her if you don't want her to spit you in the face"

"She was with you're sister this morning" remembers the girl.

"As I said, they're always together. And the last one, the gold, even her surname says it, Rose Goldberg, everyone's favorite girl. She'll always talk to you as if she really cares about you, but it's only facade. She uses this sweet girl side to get what she wants, I don't believe all this good girl side. Look" he starts passing the pages until he stops in a black haired girl "she's Billie Eilish, they were friends a few years ago, everything was fine until Rose stole her boyfriend. In the eyes of everyone Billie ended up as the crazy one and Rose as the good one. I don't know, all of them are the worst, better let them be, don't grab their attention"

"I think it's a little late for that. This morning I caught then smoking pot under the stands. Rose came after me acting all fake and I basically told her to go fuck herself" explains Olivia laughing a little.

"You did what?! Oh my god I already love you" Conan answers also laughing.

Suddenly the door opens revealing Conan stepsister.

"Con, mum says the dinner is ready, we must go upstairs" she says without realizing who's seated next to his stepbrother.

"Yes, we're coming. By the way Gracie I want you to meet Olivia" he says trying to hide a laugh.

"Oh it's nice to meet-" she cuts herself when she looks at the girl and gasps surprised "yeah, I think we met this morning" she tries to put a genuine smile on her face.

"Yeah, nice to meet you Gracie" answers Olivia laughing for the reaction of the girl.

What Olivia doesn't know, is that this is not gonna end here, Rose Goldberg and the girls will not leave her life in a while now.

Also something she doesn't know yet: she'll want it this way.
