Elson refused any requests of Anna's to see her after the ball. He couldn't speak to her. She just didn't know what it was like to grow up alone.

Completely alone.

She had servants, she had no powers, and she had rooms and rooms to go in and out of.

And he had a window to watch her dance around the courtyard. He had the same room to stay in his whole life. He had to watch servants scrape and carry out ice from his room from a secret passageway, from a distance.

He was always cold.

He didn't even remember what it was like to be held by someone.

And then Y/n came.

And she held him without hesitation, even though she saw the ice.

She held his hand close. She wasn't afraid of him.

...

And it was clear she wasn't coming tonight.

Maybe he was too much to handle.

Maybe he was right for hating himself to break down so easily in front of her. Of course he drove away the first person who ever held him in so long.

What was he thinking?

He'll never ask for something like this again. His problems were his own. No one else's.

He wiped off a tear falling down as he looks out at the still dancing party outside.

He shouldn't have gotten his hopes up. It was always going to be this way. The sooner he could get everyone back out, the better it would be.

A knock comes at his door, and he opens it quickly hoping it's Y/n. It's not.

"King Elson. I am the Queen of Glossindier. I came with the message on behalf of my daughter, she's not going to be able to make it tonight. Too drunk on wine and spirits...but if you still need that company...." She let part of her gown fall down her shoulder.

Ew.

Elson slams the door and locks it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was so cold here. You could already tell you were on the floor, based on the grain of wood feeling like tiny daggers stabbing into your cheek. Your eyes flutter open and you groggily pick yourself up and look around the room. Your vision was hard to focus, but soon the furniture stopped multiplying and settled.
Your eyes were barely open as you hum at the light shining directly in your eyes. "Nngh..." You sit up and look at the flash haphazardly thrown on the bed. You scramble up and pick it up, looking over it, and sniffing it.
What did she put in there?
You stumble to the mirror to see what a wreck you looked like. You could only see your mothers eyes staring back. You hated your eyes.
You swear to yourself and look back at the daylight.
"Elson-" Your hand moves to your mouth and you squeeze your eyes shut. You were such a horrible person. If you had just kept your mouth shut everything would have been fine. Why do you have to be like this?
If your kingdom and mother were disappointed in you, that was fine.
But the way he's going to look at you because you accidentally stood him up...he was going to be disgusted.
Just like the others.
Even when you did the whole night, it always ends up that way. The disgust. You curl up into a ball, still keeping your hand over your mouth as you sob silently.
