Athena:

The train ride from London's Kings Cross Station to Hogwarts was excruciating, the whole ride was me listening to my brothers chat with their friends. They DID NOT trust me enough to let me have my own compartment, they knew that I would take any chance I could get escape the living hell called school.

I had sat the farthest I could from my brothers, that ended up being crammed against the train window. There were 7 people in the compartment when it was meant to hold 4, a girl who I found out was named Pansy Parkinson was sitting on the floor with a boy named Blaise Zabini. The benches held Tom, Mattheo, Draco Malfoy, Lorenzo Berkshire and I. Tom and Mattheo had sat together on the right side of the compartment when you enter from the door, I was stuck sitting next to Lorenzo whilst Draco was closest to the door.

I was mostly un-disturbed from my reading except when I was patted on the head by Tom telling me I needed to get changed into uniform, once I got back to the compartment from changing, the train stops. We had arrived at the station. The group had waited a few minutes for the halls to clear. Once I stepped off the train, a small teacher that looked like a dwarf confronted me saying "since you are a new student, you are asked to ride over the lake with the first years."

I had simply nodded and left to the docks.

Once I approached, a tall, hairy man had appeared. Turns out his name is Hagrid.

He asked me if I was a new student and I replied with "yes."

I was told to wait for the rest of the students that might have been lost, though I could not see that happing from his loud voice.

As the platform cleared, the first years were more noticeable. That meant we could leave soon. I snapped out of my thoughts when i heard Hagrid yell "every one on a boat, no more then 4 though!"

The boats were scattered around the shore, they were made of Dark walnut and mahogany for repairs. A lantern was attached at the front for lighting, and benches in the middle.

I waited for the first years to form a line, then took a spot at the back... better chances to ride by myself.

Slowly creeping closer to the dock, the boats are leaving for more to appear.

The water has a mysterious black tint and looks like it goes on forever, no end could be seen, no bottom visible...

I had stepped onto a boat, lucky to have 2 empty ones left. I sat in the newer looking boat, the other one looked as old as the castle. Once seated the boat took off, magic had pulled it in the water. Trees slowly disappeared out of my view the farther the boat had drifted off, the small islands in the middle had become less common.

I had looked up, in front of my eyes was hogwarts. A huge castle. Towers everywhere, it had a unique staggering architecture. The castle was made out of creamy brown bricks, vines climbing some walls, roofs made out of a grey metal. Every roof had a sharp point atop.

We continued to slowly creep closer to the castle, moving much slower then the carriages other students rode in. We had to move slower so the higher years could get settled into the great hall.

When the boat came to a halt, i had looked in-front of me, we had arrived at the dock in Hogwarts. Slowly student had stood up and exited their boat.

In no time the dock was jammed with first years, a small corner had a empty spot. I got out of the boat and pushed my way through to get to the corner.

Once again, i had waited for everyone to walk, i wanted to be at the back. Hagrid had taken us up to the castle through endless passages. Up the hill outside through the the front doors and outside the Great Hall.

A old witch with a pointy black hat and a velvety green gown had emerged from the great hall, a short conversation with Hagrid had been shared, which was inaudible to me. But what i could tell from their body language, the witch had told Hagrid that he was of no more need.

Hagrid slowly walked back out to his shabby little hut, if you can call it a hut.

The witch had approached the clump of first years, she had called for silence.once everyone had her undivided attention, the witch had introduced herself. "Good day first years, welcome to hogwarts! I am professor Mcgonagall, vice-headmaster, head of Griffendor House and transfiguration teacher.

Mcgonagall had gone over what to do.. she would lead us in, we would walk down the middle of the room, wait for Dumbledore to announce that the sorting is to begin, what the 4 houses are, when our names' are called, to walk up to the stool and sit on it, if a sorting goes over five minutes you are un-sortable, what table it what, so on so in. I didn't need to know any of this though, I knew I would be placed in Slytherin, i knew where the table was and how the sorting commenced. Do you think that your two brothers would not resist the urge to share everything with you? They wanted to fill me in on EVERYTHING, the owls that I received from them in Ilvermorny were as detailed as possible! Being in different countries then them was hard, letters took days to send. You made sure to put EVERYTHING in, otherwise you would have to wait days the finish.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when Mcgonagall had announced that Dumbledore was ready for the sorting ceremony to start.
