Present —

“yeah, yeah I know mom. You've told me million times already. I will not skipping meals, I promise. I'm an adult now, I know how to take care of myself.”

While talking to his mom, Jake could felt the stare of some people around him. It's the moment he knew that he was quite loud and quickly lowered his gaze as he could felt the embarrassment.

“I just feel nervous. You never live somewhere far from me. Oh, and never forget to drink water. You must-” he cut his mom even before she could finish her words.

“I must keep hydrated,” he chuckled.

“Good, at least you know,” she said to tease her very dear son.

“well, about the money I gave you,”

“the money is more than enough mom. With it, I could pay the rent for at least two months if I could find a cheap one.”

“what if you couldn't?” his mom asked with some of worried tone of voices.

“i will maybe sleep at sauna for a couple days before I find a place to stay.”

“don't you find one on online yet? Or aren't you interested in any rooms to stay?”

“there's this one room, it's provide two bedrooms and one toilet. It is nearby the university. It's kinda cheap, so I afraid it's a scam.”

“really? Please be careful Jake, those people are everywhere,”

“don't worry, i'm gonna go check it today, and if it's not a scam, I will rent it I guess,”

“okay, just be careful,”

“yeah yeah I know, I got to go. Love you mom,”

“love you too,”

And they hanged up.

He stood up from where he sat and heading to the train's exit door as he's arrived at his destination, Seoul.

Jake is a student at Seoul National University (SNU) and you can clearly tell that he is one of the most smart and active students back in highschool as he manage to get a scholarship for the most prestigious university of Korea.

He walked towards the escalator provided there while searching for a room to stay using his phone. He scroll and scroll but there's only the expensive ones or one that's too far away from the university.

“i guess that is the only one,”

He clicked on the page where the room he told his mom earlier stated. He searched for the owner number and chatted them for a registeration. According to the chat, he supposed to make the payment when he's taking the room's key. As it's sounds like it's not a scam, he agreed to it.

He stopped a taxi and get into it as he heading to the apartment he's going to stay.

July 4th 2014 —

“hey,”

A little boy approached a little girl who's sitting on a swing at the playground. She seemed lonely as the boy made the decision to approach her in the first place.

“what's your name?” the little boy asked.

But the girl didn't answer him nor looking at him. She just kept on looking at the ground with her mouth pouting.

The little boy knew there's something up but he didn't say anything. Instead, he reached something in his pocket and turned out to be a candy. He handed it to the girl hoping that she will take the candy. Unfortunately, there's no respond from her.

“if you're not taking it, I will eat it then,”

The boy took back his candy and opened the candy's wrap. He placed the candy in his mouth and enjoyed the sweetness it gave while watching the other kids playing around.

After a moment of silence, the little girl spoke.

“why are they so happy?” she asked.

The boy confused with her question. “why can't they be happy?”

“i'll take that as a wrong question,”

The boy frowned as he got more confused at the little girl's state.

“why?” he asked.

“because it's, why can't I be happy like them?” she said as she faced the little boy, showing her emerald green eyes, looking so beautiful and magistic.

“why you're not happy?”

the girl smiled and looked back forward facing the kids who's still playing on the other side.

“i just can't,”

“i never feel such emotion. I'm not feeling anything,”

“are you a foreigner?” the little boy asked at a sudden.

She let out a small laugh at the boy's question. “you're funny,”

“that's really nice to meet you,” she said as she stood up and ready to leave the place not until the boy stopped her.

“wait,”

she turned around to face him and waited for him to finish his sentence.

“you didn't tell me your name yet,”

“i don't have the urge to tell you,” she said.

“and you didn't tell yours, so why would I?”

well she got a point. “if I tell you, will you tell yours?”

“no, I don't want to,”

“so, what's the point?” he asked.

“right.”

“So, why bother asked?” the girl walked away from there, left the boy hanged without knowing her name.

Present —

“sir, we're here,” the voice of the taxi driver woke Jake up from his weird dream.

He looked around outside the window and saw the building he's going to stay in. He paid for the fee and exited the car as he was going to take out his luggage and stuffs from the car. He thanked the driver and walked inside the building when he saw a guy was already waited for him.

After the registration, he searched for his room. As soon as he's there, he opened it and surprised at how cozy the room look. It looks like someone owned the room but there's no sign of anyone in there. He walked in the room to have a look. As he's satisfied with it, he entered a bedroom and placed his body on the bed. His eyes getting heavier and soon after, he fall asleep.

...

Jake woke up just to find out that it's already 5 in the evening. He got up from the bed and ready to take a shower.

While having his shower, he sang very happily and joyful as it was his concert until he finish the shower. He washed his face, brushed his teeth, shaved and other thing he could do to clean his self.

Suddenly, the toilet's door was opened by someone. It was harshly pushed as it made Jake startled to death.

“who are you?” a girl leaned against the door while having her arms crossed.

She looked at the guy who's standing in front of her, still having his toothbrush in his mouth, naked.

Jake just realized that he's not wearing anything since he was taking a shower and quickly covered his private part or he could say, dick.

Now he realized how dumb he was for not locking the door before taking shower.

“hm, that kind of,

embarrassing and small,”
