Chapter 1- Fresh start

"Desmond?"

"Just five more minutes, mom..."

"Huh...Desmond, you should have been up half an hour ago. You're going to be late for school." SCHOOL!?

"Oh shi-crap!! Thanks mom-" she walked off laughing as she went downstairs, "Crap! Where are my shirts?" I rummaged through my dresser but I still couldn't find it!

"Where are you!?" I jumped downstairs and jumped over towards my mom.

"Hey, mom...?"

"Yes? What's wrong?"

"You know that shirt Clay bought me when he visited this summer-" She fished into the clean clothes pile and threw the shirt in my direction and I unfolded it.

"That's the one right?" I nodded giving the black stencil eagle a glance then put on the shirt and jogged back upstairs. I grabbed my backpack and phone and ran down the stairs and out the door, a quick "bye mom!" and I was gone.

The school I go to is located in the Black Hills, just outside of Rapid City, South Dakota. It's really nothing special, a sort of academy for assassins...I guess other people would think that's special but I'm not really a firm believer.

The Farm as we have labeled the academy has many students, a big amount of them are my relatives.

Much like my twin brother Altair and my brother Ezio who is a year younger than me (and Altair) but that obviously doesn't matter to him seeing as he goes about, kissing and other things with all the women in the school. I know that Altair has a girlfriend and all but his best friend, Malik seems sort of clingy...like they have a bromance or something close. As for me I have my close group of friends, Lucy, Shaun, and Rebecca (Becca). I have the biggest crush on Lucy...she never seems to get that though-

"Yo, Miles." I turned only to get decked in the face by Daniel Cross.

"Really!?" I wiped at my lip by I didn't see any blood...

"Like that hurt..." I don't really like him but it's not scorn I'm feeling...

"Why are you out here Dani?"

"What's it look like?" he took a puff of a cigarette I hadn't even noticed he had.

"You're ditching?"

"You're late. Soooo, you should go before you draw too much attention to me." I dusted myself off and walked into the office, got my pass, and went to my class. Of course when I walked in everyone looked to me as if I was God setting foot on Earth.

"Sorry..." I said to the teacher...who lucky me, is also my dad, William Miles...

"Take your seat son." I sat down and Altair poked my arm. I turned.

"Hey, twin. What happened this morning? I tried to wake you up." he whispered.

"I don't know...I-I just didn't wake up..." I whispered back. Dad droned on about stuff I already know because dad likes his kids to be know-it-all's...I am one but to be honest I'm sort of a modest smart-ass...

"Desmond." I looked up to see Altair with a concerned look upon his face, "The bell is ringing." I grabbed my things and we walked out waving to dad as we did so.

When I walked into my next class I wasn't at all surprised to see that Cross was missing...wouldn't his grandfather, Nikolai Orelou be super pissed? Huh...why do I care?

"Good evening class." stated Mr. La Volpe, "Are you all ready to learn?" there were yes' and nods, "Very good-" the door burst open and it was one of the security guards with a worried look on his face.

"Where is Daniel Cross!?" La Volpe scanned the room and of course didn't find him and silently cursed.

"He once again is ditching my class...he can be a real idiota sometimes..." My hand raised itself, "Si, Desmond?" I hesitated.

"I-I saw him earlier...outside of the school-" the security guy shook his head.

"Thanks for the information..." and then he left.

It wasn't all too long till lunch arrived and I was dragged into the library by Rebecca, Shaun, and Lucy.

"Desmond, you know we have that big test in two weeks to see if we're still 'farm' material." said Lucy laughing as she said 'farm'.

"I know..." Shaun 'tsk'ed' at me.

"Desmond doesn't know very much..." I sighed throwing my feet onto the table and leaning into the chair.

"You really enjoy being a jackass, don't you Shaun." said Rebecca and of course Shaun reacted with a hurt expression and retort.

"How mean, I really thought you and I had something..." I bit my lip, remembering something suddenly, my friends seemed to notice.

"Desmond?" I looked up to Lucy, her beautiful deep blue eyes-

"Desmond!?"

"Huh?" I looked at the three of them in turn.

"Are you ok?" asked Lucy.

"Yeah...I just remembered that I'm going to be meeting some out of town family members for the first time..."

"Oh, who?" asked Rebecca with a smile.

"My cousin Connor and his mom and dad."

"When is this happening?" asked Lucy.

"This weekend."

"Why so nervous?" asked Shaun without looking away from his laptop.

"I don't know...I just really hope they like me." the three of them laughed, "What's so funny?"

"Who wouldn't like you?" asked Rebecca.

"Yeah, your way funny." said Lucy patting my head.

"If I were your cousin, I'd hate the shi-"

"SHAUN!!" hissed both Lucy and Rebecca.

I hope they're right...well not Shaun...

When Desmond say: "but I'm not really a firm believer." I was making a pun off the fact that he thought the Templars were some made-up thing his parents believed XD
