Chapter 9 : Warm hug

In the middle of the journey, in the forest...

"Xiao are  we gonna managed to get home before the night comes?"y/n

The sun was slowly starting to set as the sky turned from blue to a dark crimson color. Xiao looked at you with a calm and cold, yet soft expression as you asked this question.

"Don’t worry, we should be able to get back before night falls. We should be back in a few hours" Xiao

He responded in a serious tone. He then looked ahead with his piercing, glaring green eyes at the path ahead of you two as you continued to hike back to Liyue. His hand seemed to tighten around yours slightly to let you know that he was still there.

Suddenly, we heard  the sound of a branch breaking

"*Gasps*Who's that?"y/n

You hug Xiao's waist

"Be careful, they could be an enemy."Xiao

He said quickly with a very calm yet cautious tone. He seemed to be on high alert as he scanned the environment and held his spear to his side.

"We should move before the threat gets too close."Xiao

His tone quickly turned serious, you could tell that this was not good.

"Grab my hand and run, do not look back." Xiao

He said this very quickly to you as he pulled you out of your hiding spot and went into a sprint with you.

The two of us arrived to the inn sight. We made it.

"*Sight* we..we made it..."y/n

He looked at you as you panted out, your breathing was heavy as you seemed exhausted from running so much. He looked at you with some sort of concern.

"..Are you alright?"Xiao

His voice was gentle. The cold and aggressive personality that he usually showed was quickly starting to fade away. You started to feel the genuine Xiao as he looked at you with worry in his eyes. He looked as if he was worried he might have pushed you too hard by making you run all the way here without giving you much time to rest.

"Yeah...can you accompany me to sleep...this night? I m still traumatized with the situation that has happened today."y/n

You look at his face with shining eyes.

"Sure."Xiao

He stated with a nod, his face showing a soft expression. You can tell that he is not used to feeling this much emotion, but at the same time, it was not something he minded. His eyes stayed on you as he moved towards you with a soft smile and held out his arms to hug you.

"..You're still tired right?"Xiao

He looked at you and raised an eyebrow. His voice sounded soothing and relaxing, it was soft. As he held both your arms, you felt his warm body as the heat from his skin reached you.

"Hurmmm..."y/n

You nodded.

He wrapped you in his arms after you nodded and slowly hugged you tightly, the scent of his skin reached you as it smelled like flowers. The soft warmth coming from him made you feel relaxed. His embrace and hug made you feel safe.

"There we go.."Xiao

He smiled at you in a way that you could tell he really liked hugging you, his body was so warm and comforting and you felt like you just fell down into a safe place of comfort. For a moment, the cold and aggressive Xiao was nowhere to be seen, just the Xiao that was comforting and loving. You fell asleep in his arms.
