That morning, I had never been so scared and sad at the same time in my life. My mother went missing! I woke up this morning as usual to make breakfast for me and my mother. As usual, after everything is set up, I would wake her up. So I knocked the door but there was no reply. So I opened the door because I thought that she was still asleep but then I saw that her bed was empty. I checked the bathroom but no one's there. I checked the garage and her car is not there. I checked the kitchen to see if there's any note that slipped pass me when I was in the kitchen but there's nothing. I looked through our chat box but she didn't send me anything as of recent and I called her but there was no answer. Just where is she?
So I decided that I should go and look for her. 'Maybe her phone died,' I thought, trying to think positively eventhough panicked ran through my veins. I had to start and find her at every place she could possibly be.
I chose the grocery store as my first stop. Maybe she was getting groceries or maybe she went to get some stuff that she forgot to buy. I went to every corner of the store but there was no luck. She was not there. So I decided to continue at the next place.
I went to the diner that she usually dine-in. Again, she was not there. But the smell of waffles from the diner's kitchen reminded me that I had not taken my breakfast yet as I was in a hurry. So I ordered a stack of waffles that my mother and I would usually get at this diner. Only this time, it was just me who's eating the waffles. I blinked hardly as I ate the waffles. I didn't want to cry. Not yet.
After I finished, I went to the one and only place that my mother would go and find comfort from. I knocked on their door and an old lady that's around my mother's age answered the door. She smiled at me warmly and said, "Emily, Hi! What brings you here today?" I had asked her if she saw my mother and her smile slowly fades. I asked her what's wrong and she said, "Oh, it's nothing dear. No, I haven't seen your mother yet for today. Why don't you come in and we can wait for your mother to arrive?" I agreed. Mother would always stop by at Mrs Lennon's house everyday before going back home.
She made me tea and she asked me to wait for a while. I watched the news on her television for a while and then suddenly, there was a knock. Mrs Lennon came by rushingly and she opened the door. Two men wearing white uniforms came in and they walked towards me. One of them grabbed me and the other one injected me with something. Everything went on so fast I didn't have time to do anything. Everything went black after that.
When I woke up, I was in a hospital bed. I was so confused as to why I was there. I just wanted to find my mother. So why did I end up at the hospital?
A doctor came in and Mrs Lennon was with her. The doctor checked up on me to see if I was fully conscious and after that, she broke the news. "Emily, your mother died a year ago and as a result of her death, your mental health became unstable because you cannot accept her death." the doctor said.
Tears were falling down my cheeks. No way this is true. My mother died? No this can't be real. Mrs Lennon was hugging me to calm me down but I acted aggressively so the doctor called for some help from the nurses. They came in and injected me again. Slowly, I fell into a deep dark abyss that I could never get out of.
