In the icy air of night
Stars sprinkle across the dark
Aligning the sky like million lights
Giggles echo around the backyard
Little kids are up with their mischievous jars
While my fingers strum onto the guitar
You used to sing with me
But now, it is just me
Feeling empty and lonely
As I sing along softly
Tell me why...
Why do you have to lie...
You don't know how hard I cried
Till my eyes dried
I whisper your name in the wind
Hope it would travel to your inn
The cold darkness makes me shiver
As my heartbeats begin to shrivel
A light emerges from nowhere
I wonder if you are there
One after another they follow
Draining out my own wallow
Sparks of fluorescence as they glow
Urging me to let the past go
Dear little fireflies
Can you stay by my side?
Just a little longer for my summer night
Before the first pink blush of sunlight
