--No one's P.O.V.--
The deadly redhead paced around the room, thinking about that encounter she had with that blonde man with the bow and arrow. For some unknown reason she couldn't get him off her mind.
Is he really my partner? She asked herself. Do I really belong here?
"Agent Romanova?" A man's voice interrupted her train of thoughts. Looking directly at the man by her door. She didn't recognize the man, probably just messenger , She thought.
"Yes? Do you need anything." She replied without a hint emotion in her voice.
"The boss wants to see you." She simply replied with a nod. The man turned around and to leaved.
Natasha put on her cold and emotionless face as soon as she stepped out her room. She walked with her head held high going towards her boss's office. Agents with lower ranks suddenly found the floor interesting as she past them.
The guards posted by the door, nodded her way and opened the door for her. She was greeted by the similar sinister grin she learned not to fear.
"My little spider, how are you?" He asked with the grin growing bigger.
"Same old." She answered carefully.
He pointed at the chair, offering her a seat. She unwillingly sat down. After all she still works for him.
"Do you need anything?" She asked coldly. Her boss looked at her, eyeing her. She felt uncomfortable under his gaze.
He didn't answer her, just hand her a folder with a Classified mark on it. She skimmed through the file and stopped and a highlighted word.
"Red Guardian?" She read out loud.
"That's right, he will be your partner."
"I work alone." emphasizing the word alone
"Just give it a try."
Grinding her teeth, she released a long sigh.
"Who is this Red Guardian anyway?"
"Me." A voice answered behind her. She stood up ready to face her partner. Turning around her eyes landed on a very familiar face.
"Alexi?" She whispered. Her eyes were bigger and mouth slightly agape. She could feel her boss smirking.
"Miss me?" He asked as he smiled at her. And if Natasha thought she she wouldn't be more confuse than that day she saw that archer, she couldn't be more wrong.
