𝑳𝒆𝒙𝒚 continues to sip the synthetic blood she poured into a glass of red wine as she hears the bedroom door open. She closes her eyes, discreetly inhaling Thomas' scent. In addition to being delicious, he now smells like men's shower gel.

Thomas crosses the room and sits on the opposite end of the couch where Lexy is sitting with her legs underneath her. Lexy mentally thanks him for the distance.

She watches him, and apparently, she was not the only one who dared to rummage through Sam's closet, since he has on some black social pants and a t-shirt of the same color.

"I know that right now you blame yourself about what happened, but---"

"Thomas." She interrupts the course of his speech. "Eat. Please." With her head, the blonde points to a tray set down on the coffee table in the living room. The minutes that Thomas was in the bath allowed her to think about what the human would need after that. A nice meal was what came to her mind, and she quickly ordered room service.

Thomas hadn't even noticed the giant hamburger. His stomach rumbles at the sight of the dish and the smell that builds up in his nostrils. He only realizes now how hungry he is.

The feeling of an empty stomach glued to his back means that he has been asleep for much longer than a few hours. He wishes he had his cell phone with him, to confirm the time and the messages or calls he may have received.

He controls the urge to groan with pleasure the moment he takes the first bite of the bread. Thomas chews slowly, savoring it as if it were his first time eating something like that.

Watching a human eat has become repulsive to Lexy, not only because of the desperate and uncontrolled way they do it but also because she hasn't known what that is for a hundred years. She doesn't even know what a hamburger will taste like anymore.

However, watching Thomas eat, it fills her with a certain joy and reassurance. Because it means that he is well and alive. Her fear did not become reality.

"This is delicious." Thomas moans again. "After the transformation, were you ever curious about the taste of food? I take it that it is different, because all your senses are intensified. Right?" He curiously questions.

Lexy moves the glass away from her lips and faces the human whose mouth is smeared with ketchup.

"Once was enough to never touch human food again. I was indeed curious, but I immediately regretted it."

"Why?" Thomas takes another bite of his meal, very interested in the vampire's answer.

"Food tastes like death and our system has no way to digest it. I felt like I was going to die soon after. I will never repeat the experience, I get sick just thinking and watching you eat that." She lies about the last part.

"That sounds pretty sad, honestly. One of the pleasures of living is eating." Thomas shrugs his shoulders.

"You say it well, 'one of the pleasures of living'. I'm not alive, Thomas." Lexy sets the empty glass down on the coffee table and lies back on the couch, hugging her bare legs. "I'm very dead."
