Hi all! My name's Sarah, I'm 20 years old, and this is my first official story I'll be posting. There's a few things I wanted to clear up regarding the world-building, etc, alongside what this book is actually about.^ ^
THIS BOOK IS NOT INTENDED FOR READERS UNDER THE AGE OF 18.
This book is a psychological horror with elements of mystery and puzzles. It is the first book in the series and may require a few re-reads to really understand what's going on. What does that mean? Looks like you'll have to figure it out 🤷♀️
1) TRIGGERS!
This book contains mature and graphic themes that may be triggering to some audiences, such as:
Mild-gore
Suicide
Swearing
Kidnapping
Mental illness and trauma2) In this world, the CIA has sub-organizations. These are private companies that handle the not-so-legal work. If caught, they are on their own, and the company is cut off from the CIA. They are unable to be linked back to any government entities.
3) I am NOT AMERICAN. This means there will be inevitable mistakes here and there. As this book is still a draft, I welcome any and all constructive criticism on any cultural mistakes.
4) Following on from point 3, there is a character in this book named Esme Esparza. She is Cuban. I am NOT Cuban. As I want to make sure they are presented correctly, I am consulting with a friend of mine to make sure everything is accurate and respectful.
5) Pronouns!
As a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself, I wanted to make sure diversity was included. For some characters, their identity impacts the story. For others, it has no effect on the story whatsoever. The reason? For me, I wish for a day when gender identity and/or sexuality don't matter; it's just who you are. However, I also don't want to ignore the discrimination and suffering faced by our community. Therefore, I tried to make a balance between normalizing differences in gender and sexual identity and the issues we face. Now that's all cleared up, please sit back, relax, get yourself a cuppa, and enjoy! ^ ^
