Polfast is a city of two halves.
Sun and Moon.
Yin and Yan.
Fire and Water.
Overworld and Underworld.
The Overworld is ruled by rich government officials, intelligent businessmen and the Bureau of Corrections. Corruption thrives in the dark twists of the city above hiding away the murders of innocent and guilty magical creatures at the hands of the Bureau, concealed in the shadows of skyscrapers are the wealthy keeping their secrets. The Among the cunning, streetsmart and ignorant sit those who hope for a better world, those who radiate positivity and happiness and those who are part of both worlds.
The Underworld is home to those the city didn't want, castaways and indiscreet magical beings. Vibrant and colourful streets are home to all kinds of magical creatures from vampires to nymphs to witches and centaurs, they live freely. Free of suppression and judgement but only as long as they remain hidden from prying eyes, protection is offered to its inhabitants in the form of the rough rocky walls that shape the cavern.
You could say they live exclusively but upon closer inspection, you will see the complex web of connections the Bureau has failed to stamp out. But this story is not about the Bureau and its work.
This is a story about four individuals, but it begins with two.
