On the call

Jin's mom: He will only get hurt by knowing that his mother has a heart disease and the treatment is very expensive that a normal middle class people like us can't afford. I don't want him to suffer because of me .

Other person: I understand your feelings but it will be unfair to Jin. You are his mother and he has a right to know about your health.

Jin's mom: If I will tell him about my heart problem then he will try to save me and I know very well even if the cost of treatment is very high , then also he will try to arrange it no matter what. At the end he won't succeed and he will regret his whole life for not being able to save his mother. I want to see him happy that's it , I don't want him to struggle for money for me who doesn't have much days left to live . It's j...just m..my wish to spend some happy days with him before I die. ( while trying very hard to not cry but at last she broke down )

Suddenly Jin enters in the room startled by what he just heard . His mom turned around , she didn't expected Jin to be here. She started worrying if Jin has heard anything. She didn't wanted him to know so she just hoped he didn't listened anything.

Jin's mom: Oh! Jinnie you- ( trying to act normal)

Jin: Why Eomma just why tell me why did you lied to me ?( while trying to control his tears)

Jin's mom: Jinnie, what are you talking about it's nothing I was just -

Jin: Again, you are trying to lie .

Jin's mom: Listen Jin it's just that .

Suddenly she fell down but before she could reach the floor, Jin held her in his arms. He called the nurse and told her to bring the doctor. The doctor came and checked, he said that she needs to be admitted in the ICU immediately . She was taken to the ICU and the doctor started the treatment. Meanwhile, Jin was standing outside the room . After few minutes, the doctor came out and told Jin to follow him to his cabin .

Doctor: Are your patient's close relative?

Jin: She is my mom. Is there something serious?( asked nervously)

Doctor: So that means you don't have any idea about your mom's health condition yet .

Jin: No, but today I listened her talking about some sort of heart disease. Before I could ask more about it , suddenly she fainted out.

Doctor: Your mom fainted out because of a mild heart attack. And the actual matter is that your mother is suffering from severe heart valve disease . In general, we all have four valves that keep the flow of blood in correct direction. But In your mom's case it's different, her one of the valve is not working properly and if this continues, unfortunately it might lead to heart failure . The only treatment of this problem is heart surgery which should be done as soon as possible.

Jin: Within how many days the surgery should be done, i mean to say she needs some time to get ready like as of now she is very weak . Will she be able to bear the surgery ?( asked anxiously )

Doctor: We must do her surgery next week only cause she doesn't have much time left . So what have you decided?

Jin: Okay you carry on the surgery next week but please make sure that she will be all fine afterwards.

Doctor: She will be fine afterwards but I can't fully assure you as the success rate of surgery is 80% .

Jin: What about the remaining 20% doctor?

Doctor: That depends upon the luck of the patient and for that the only thing you can do is pray to God.

Jin: But-

Doctor: Don't worry we will try our best and don't focus on that . It's just our duty to tell you all the truth before the surgery but this doesn't mean anything wrong. Now, the next thing you need to do is to complete all the formalities related to surgery. But before, here are some medicine you need to bring now for further treatment. Afterwards, the nurse will explain you about all the things related to surgery .( gives the prescription of medicine to Jin)

Jin: Okay

Jin purchases the prescribed medicines from the pharmacy shop and goes to the room (where his mom is admitted). He handed the medicines to the nurse and was about to go near his mom's bed but one nurse interrupts him . She tells him that he can't meet her now as she is still unconscious and needs some time to get back to normal. After coming out of the the room , he was about to go suddenly nurse calls him from back .

Nurse: Excuse me Mr.

Jin: Yes .

Nurse: Here's your patient's file , all the things are mentioned in here. Let me tell you that the heart surgery along with some tests that we need to do before the surgery will cost around
$20,000 in total . You can do the payment in two ways either you can pay the whole amount before the surgery or you can pay it in two installs. Then the only thing left to do will be signing some papers which i will give you on the day of surgery. You can ask me if you have any confusion.

Jin: Ok I understood.

Author's Pov

Jin became very anxious after listening the cost of surgery as it was not a normal amount for a middle class people. He got worried by thinking about arranging such a huge sum of money. And in the case if he won't be able to arrange , the consequences scared him a lot. The situation of Jin was like Do or Die and Jin decided that he will do anything but will save his mom's life.

It was very important for Jin to arrange the money but how is he gonna arrange $20,000 in just 7 days.
