Gripping my sword tightly I tilted the blade, slicing through the demon's neck with ease. Why did this seem so easy? The demon was small… But I could practically taste how powerful he was, he was oozing strength. Leaping back I crouched. The body dropped to the ground and the head rolled before hitting a tree. Only a few seconds passed before she noticed the demon wasn’t disappearing… The two body parts were sprouting whole new demons. “What the—“

“We got decapitated by a little girl?”

In front of me was a red-eyed man, horns sprouting from his forehead. He held a long staff in his hand gripping it furiously. Using the pole to pick himself up from the ground. His massive canines flashed as he spat out vile curses under his breath, glaring at me as if I was some pest. This thing… His aura was so intimidating. My thoughts were cut off by another voice, “Calm down, Sekido. If anything I’m glad we get to stretch our limbs.”

This one had sprouted from the head of the demon she’d decapitated. A smooth grin stretched across his lips. Turning to face me I tensed at the sudden overwhelming wave of pressure. How powerful were these two? The lax one approached me, walking as if he was on a casual stroll.

Karaku’s green eyes slid down her body, a sly smirk etching onto his face. The look of confusion and fear on this Demon Slayer Corp member nearly made him cackle. Now only a few feet away from her he sensed her movement, it was quick. But not quick enough…

Leaping forward I tried to slice my sword through his neck, but the lack of momentum proved to be my downfall. standing staring up at the demon, his wicked smile mocking me. I messed up—

“Let me help you with that,” Karaku pushed the metal blade the rest of the way his head flying to the side.

Once again in a matter of seconds, another demon appeared. The body was less than a foot in front of me, the headless figure suddenly growing a head. Its eyes an azure blue, shimmering softly in the moonlight. Taking a moment I read their kanji pupils, Upper Moon Four. I could feel my breath get knocked from my chest as I was tugged back. The tallest one I’d heard, called Sekido, had me by the back of my haori. Clearly peeved at my utter existence. “What’s this thing? A little girl?”

The blue one tilted its head. Looking slightly confused. “You let someone so small behead you Karaku? I’m so disappointed…”

Karaku joined Aizetsu by his side. All three of them were staring at me now… What was I? Some wild animal? They were the ones most like beasts here. My niirichin sword had been thrown when Karaku had willingly decapitated himself. I was completely powerless against these three— there was no denying it. Even I wasn’t stupid enough to fool myself. “If you're gonna kill me, get it over with!”

I shouted, crossing my arms. Aizetsu grabbed my chin, lifting my face to be barely a few inches from his. His words were spoken in a pity whisper, “You’ve managed to behead us twice and you’ve given up? How miserable.”

“Don’t be too brutal on the little lady! It’s obvious she can’t beat us, actually, I helped her behead me— so technically she only managed once by herself,” Karaku talked as if he was speaking in a casual conversation.

A vein in my forehead popped as I shouted again, “Stop talking as if I’m not here!”

Now wriggling in Sekido’s grip I kicked aimlessly at the two in front of me. It was quickly put to a stop, I was slammed face-first into the ground. I could feel the steel of the staff digging into my spine. Gritting my teeth I fought the urge to cry out. I wouldn’t give them that satisfaction. My nails dug into the dirt as I pushed up with all my might. Seems Sekido hadn’t planned for my sudden comeback as he teetered backward giving me the small window I needed to get to my feet. Panting and covered in dirt I stood in a defensive posture, my hands balled up in fists in front of me. My sword was behind the three of them… If I could just get past them I might have a chance at escaping.
