The Light Within - Book 1

Chapter 20

With a fierce determination, I charge towards Kamden, with Lyra's light surrounding me like a protective shield. The ground shakes beneath my feet with every step I take, and I can feel the air crackling with magic. Kamden looks at me with a mixture of fear and anger, but he doesn't back down. Instead, he raises his hands, and the shadows around him grow even more intense, forming into a massive black dragon. "I won't let you stand in my way," Kamden growls, his voice deep and menacing. "I will have the power I deserve, even if it means destroying you and everything you hold dear." But I'm not afraid. With Lyra's power guiding me, I feel invincible. I summon my own dragon form, my scales glittering in the light.

As I approach Kamden, I let out a powerful burst of light from my mouth, aimed at the darklings holding Ryze captive. The light cuts through the shadows like a hot knife through butter, freeing Ryze from their grasp. With a newfound freedom, Ryze stands on his feet, his eyes locked onto Kamden's dragon form.

As Ryze gets to his feet, his body begins to shimmer and transform. His skin turns a brilliant white, and his wings extend to their full length, crackling with powerful bolts of lightning. He lets out a deafening roar that shakes the very ground beneath us, and I can feel the energy of the storm building within him. Kamden looks at Ryze's new form with a mixture of surprise and fear, but he still remains defiant.

As I witness Ryze's transformation, I feel a surge of energy building inside me, and I know it's not just from the power of Lyra's light. It's the bond between Ryze and me, growing stronger with each passing moment. I can feel his presence within me, his strength and determination fueling my own. The magic that Kamden had drained from me seems to be rebuilding itself, like a river flowing back into its banks after a drought.

With this newfound strength, I fly towards Kamden and Ryze follows close behind. We both unleash our full power upon Kamden.

As we approach Kamden, I can feel the intensity of his power. The magic he siphoned from Ryze and me has made him stronger than I had ever imagined. But I refuse to let that intimidate me. With Ryze by my side, I feel invincible.

Kamden meets our attack with equal ferocity. His dark dragon form unleashes a barrage of shadows and curses at us, and I can feel their power trying to pull me under. But I resist. I channel the power of Lyra's light and use it to counter Kamden's attacks.

Ryze, too, proves to be a formidable opponent. His lightning strikes Kamden's dragon form with incredible force, causing the very air to crackle and pop. Kamden roars in anger and pain, but he doesn't back down. He continues to fight with all his might.

Through our bond, I can hear Ryze's voice in my mind. "We can do this, Kaida. Together, we are stronger than Kamden could ever be." I nod in agreement, feeling his energy and determination coursing through me.

Lyra's voice joins in, soothing and powerful at the same time. "You are not alone, Kaida. I am with you, and so is the light. Let its power guide you."

With their words echoing in my mind, I channel the power of the light even more, letting it fill every inch of my being. I can feel Ryze doing the same, and together we unleash a powerful blast of light and lightning that slams into Kamden's dragon form with a deafening explosion.

As our combined attack hits Kamden's dragon form, I can feel the impact reverberating through the ground beneath us. The explosion is blinding, and I have to shield my eyes with my wing as debris flies in every direction. When the dust settles, Kamden's dragon form is lying on the ground, motionless. I can feel the residual magic fading away, leaving behind only a drained and unconscious Kamden.

With a deep breath, I release the dragon form and land on the ground, feeling the earth tremble slightly beneath me. Ryze lands beside me, his wings folding gracefully behind him. We both look at each other, and I can feel the bond between us stronger than ever before.
