Beigoma City. Known for its sunny weather, beautiful beaches, and most importantly, it's Bladers. Legends now known throughout the world, all because of one city, and the sport that they loved. History created, friendships and rivalries made.

And what of the weather? Was it sunny? No, quite the opposite. Dark clouds were swarming together, the winds howling, and rain relentlessly flooding the streets. It was a few months after Lain Valhalla's flare was saved, and a rare moment of peace found its way into the city. Shu Kurenai, the Legend Blader who had decided to coach Lain had made up his mind to stay in Beigoma City for a while, spending time with the old Beyclub instead of having to manage the Raging Bulls for a change. Fubuki had kindly insisted Shu take a break, saying he could handle things while Shu was away.

Now, after having left Valt's house after they had eaten, Shu walked down the wet streets, umbrella in hand, blocking his white locks from the rain. His shoes splashed against the sidewalk, when his apartment - the one he used to live in back when he still went to Beigoma Academy, filled his view. Stepping under the side roofs, he stopped to watch the rainfall, water dripping down his hair and onto his forehead, not wanting to go inside his home just yet.

He allowed his thoughts to run free from the walls he put on them during the day whenever he was with people, and began to feel his emotions coursing through him after many years of caging them up.

And instead of the more recent happenings, his mind went to a place it rarely went to now, but used to go all the time when he was younger. His scar. The thin, darker coloured skin that went from above his right eye to down below it. A straight, but ragged line of flesh.

It had been years since he had paid it any attention, he had even stopped lifting his right bangs to show it after he had won a Bey Battle. But today, for some strange reason, his mind had gone down that dark path that gave him nightmares for days.

And it all rushed back to him.

The pain.

The blood.

The sound of his bey hitting the ground, echoing repeatedly inside his ears.

The malicious laughter of the Legendary Lui Shirosagi, as he taunted his weakness. Mocked him.

He remembered everything. And he remembered it well. He remembered the hatred he felt, the pain from both losing and his eye, and the guilt of not being able to keep his promise. The promise he had made to his bey: To bring them both to victory in the finals. He had felt like a failure; the very reason why he had abandoned everything and became Red Eye. Blinded to the core, not realising he was hurting everyone. Including himself.

Shu felt pathetic; reliving all of those memories, wondering why he had done such a stupid thing. His fists clenched, as he remembered the tears Valt had shed as he begged him to come back to them when he was Red Eye.

He hated himself for that.

He was a coward, running from everything that didn't go the way he'd thought it would. A childish act, for one so mature.

A slight chuckle escaped his lips, as he directed his gaze towards the sky.

"I'm such an idiot, aren't I?" he asked himself, or to any god who would care enough to listen, closing his eyes as he felt the droplets of rain drip onto his eyelids and trail down to his cheeks.

The wind only howled in response, but for one who already knew the answer, it was enough. He was an idiot, yes, but he now knew right from wrong. Good from evil. He had learned from his experience, and hoped to lead a better life. "At least, I hope so," were another few words uttered into the wind, completing his train of thought.
