Taylor didn't go to school the rest of the week, she stayed home struggling with the thought, should she tell Mr. Craddy the truth? Should she tell him that she was the reason her mother was dead? Should she tell him that she is the one who created the man who is terrorizing half the continent of Europe
Her dad was gone, like he always was when she was home. He was terrified of her and she couldn't really blame him. She was even afraid of herself half the time. By Friday afternoon Lisa was sick of Taylor's vague text as to why she had been out of school all week. Lisa knew Taylor and she never got sick like ever, so she walked to Taylor's house that afternoon as soon as school had let out.
Taylor heard the banging on the front door and looked out her upstairs bedroom window to see Lisa, she hurried down the stairs to open the door not wanting to keep Lisa waiting. Taylor opened the door and Lisa started yelling and ranting at her, "What is this," she yelled, "you come to school on your 16th birthday don't talk to me or anyone else, then you don't show up to school the rest of the week! What the crap Taylor!"
Taylor stood there listening to Lisa rant till finally she said, "Are you done yet?" Her voice was layered with sarcasm just like always when she hung out with Lisa. Taylor hates it when Lisa gets over dramatic like she had just done that's why the sarcasm was a necessity.
Lisa took a deep breath, "okay I'm done," she changed her tone to a more civil one, "why haven't you been at school? Almost everyone is worried about you even Mr. Craddy..."
Taylor knew she couldn't exactly tell Lisa trying to figure out if she should tell Mr. Craddy the extent of her powers with words, so she settled for the other thing that had been weighing on her mind all week, Taylor stepped back to allow Lisa in and closed the front door before saying, "its just that this week its been 2 whole years without Mom."
Tears danced in Taylor's eyes but she was determined to hold them back, so Lisa being the loving best friend she is said nothing for a few minutes.
After a few minutes of silence Lisa asked, "wanna play some video games or watch some movies? Just a girls night?"
Taylor broke into a smile for the first time since her birthday, "you're so on Red!"
They both raced upstairs. "Video games or movie first?" Taylor asked.
"Video games," Lisa replied, "you're so going down."
Lisa and Taylor decided to play Super Mario Kart on the Gamecube. Lisa was way better than Taylor at it of course, but Taylor didn't care, she was just happy to spend time with Lisa.
After 3 hours of Lisa kicking Taylor's butt Taylor said, "wanna go over to your place and go for a walk?"
Lisa got up off the couch and turned off the Gamecube, "Sure, did you get your licence this past week?"
"Yes I did; I'm gonna go change clothes then grab my phone, wanna go throw your crap in the car while I change?" Lisa nodded and left to the car.
Taylor ran upstairs to change into some jeans and her favorite superhero t-shirt. She pulled her brown hair up into a messy bun on the top of her head.
Taylor dug into her bed trying to find her phone, after a couple of minutes she found it, she had a missed call from her dad, so she decided to call him back.
He picked up on the second ring, "Hello?"
"Hey Dad, how is your business trip going?" Taylor asked
"Good just worrying about you. Your school called and asked why you hadn't been at school since Tuesday.."
"Oh yeah, sorry Dad, I just have has a really bad week, I was sick Wednesday and Thursday, so I didn't go... um... Do you mind if I go over and hang out with Lisa for a couple hours?"
"Okay just remember Taylor school is important and yeah go over and hang out with Lisa, lord knows that little redhead packs a punch."
"Thanks dad, When will you be home?" Her heart skipped a beat, when he was home he avoided her like the plague, but on the phone it was like she had her old dad back.
"Okay dad, well I gotta go Lisa is at my door giving me a hurry up look."
Lisa yelled "Hello Mr. Summers!"
"Hello Lisa, I love you Taylor, go have some fun see you Sunday Mr Summers replied.
"I Love you too dad, I will,: Taylor said, and as soon as will was out of her mouth he hung up the phone.
Taylor looked at Lisa, "Ready to go Red?"
Lisa jumped up, "Yes lets go!"
They both ran for the car and headed towards Lisa's house.
