"Do you feel any different from the last time you had your check up?" A woman with shoulder length black hair hums. She kneels in front of a small girl who looked to be ten to twelve years old with white curls tied into a high ponytail.

"No, not really." The girl shakes her head. "But do I really have to do this again?" She whines.

The older woman laughs and gently places her hands on the child's shoulders. "Iris, you know the answer to that. Your eyes are getting brighter and redder." She sighs and stands, heading towards a cabinet.

"My hair did the same thing and I ended up being just fine." The girl huffs and plops onto the bed next to her "I'm not sick, plus it happened a while ago."

"You're right." The woman murmurs. "But, we need to keep note of major changes to make sure things stay that way."

"Amelia's right." A male voice pops into the room. A man with dirty blonde hair stands against a doorway with his arms crossed. "You left everyone worried because of that accident."

The woman known as Amelia chuckles. "Yes, thank you for that, Bradd."

Iris sticks her tongue out at the man and looks back at Amelia. Another female voice calls throughout the room causing Iris to perk up. "Don't give her such a hard time, it was only a few months ago."

"Luida!" Iris smiles and runs up to a woman with messy black hair and hugs her waist.

"Good to see you too." Luida laughs and gently pats the child's back.

Amelia sighs waves to the other woman with an apologetic smile. She looks down at Iris and shakes her head. "Don't think these two being here changes anything. Come sit back down."

Iris grumbles and buries her face into Luida's stomach, causing the messy-haired woman to giggle. "If you're good during your check-up I'll take you to see the plants today."

A sudden rumble throughout the room makes everyone stumble. The lights flicker for a bit before completely shutting off. Iris clings to Luida with a scared whimper and looks around.

A few people run past the door behind Bradd and Luida making the two look back in confusion. Amelia looks between the two then at Iris and hums. A monitor next to her pops up with a warning.

"The ships are going down." She huffs and grabs a tablet on the counter next to her.

"What do you mean?" Luida hums.

Amelia huffs and stares down at the messages popping up on her screen one after the other. "We're crashing, and it's not just us." She pauses and looks down at Iris with a sigh. "Get Iris to her room! Quickly."

Iris looks over at Amelia with a small frown and shakes her head. "No. I wanna stay with you!" She whines.

Amelia hums and kneels infront of the child. She caresses her cheek and hesintates for a moment. "It's not safe here, and I have to run to the comms room."

Iris pouts as she stares back at woman. Luida gently places her hands on Iris's shoulders and looks down at the child. "I'll stay with you the whole, okay?"

The soothing sound of her words relaxes Iris a bit. She looks back at Amelia and nods. A loud boom sounds through the room. The lights flicker and the room shakes.

Bradd quickly grabs Iris, running out of the room with Luida behind him. Iris shouts for Amelia as shes carried farther away from the room. She thrashes in Bradd's arms, beginning to sob.

The red lights of the halls flashing and the feeling of the walls shaking begins to become too much for her. She cries and holds her hands over her ears until the room falls silent. She huffs as a small pain sits in the back of her head.

Muffled voices call out to her along with the sound of a blaring alarm. The last thing she sees is Amelia kneeling down at her with a worried expression, calling out her name.

"Iris? Honey, can you hear me?"
