The school started, and students went to their respective classes, wondering what was stored in them. The girl with so much spiritual power was casually walking down the hall to her magic class, with her hands still in her pocket and her black cap lowered. She was rather lowkey, but the students couldn't help but stop and stare at her. Most of the attention was due to her performance, but the bystanders now saw how unbothered and cool the mysterious girl was. Her cap barely hid her face, but it added to her domineering attitude from her. Even her strides spoke out about her confidence.
The most important question on their mind was the girl's name. After loud whisperings and shoving, someone finally approached the girl, who was leaning back on her chair with her head lowered and eyes closed. But before she could speak, someone shouted a warning.
"The teacher's coming!"
Everyone scurried to their desks and was seated when an elderly woman walked in. Though she looked old, her dress pants and formal top with her silvery hair neatly braided made her look noble and youthful. The students felt unlucky, they could tell she would be strict. The woman introduced herself as Lia Tortez and instructed the students to do the same. Inwardly, they complained about having to stand up to state their name and their reasons for choosing this school over the other ones. At the same time, they were grateful for this opportunity to know the girl's name.
When it was her turn, everyone—including Teacher Tortez—turned to her and paid full attention.
"Elaine. I wanted to check my pillar strengths and this is the only school that has this ritual." Then, she sat back down, ignoring the dumbfounded looks of her classmates.
Lia frowned at the girl. She thought Elaine sounded too arrogant and treated this school as if it was any other school. Every student had introduced themselves and Lia took her students behind the curtain at the back of the classroom, where there was another room. The students glanced around, but their eyes widened and they immediately took a step back when they saw a cage on a table in the middle of this hidden room. Inside the cage was a Line Predator.
"There's no need to worry, it won't escape," Lia assured.
"T—Teacher Tortez... Why is a Line Predator here? Won't it be angry and attack us?"
Lia narrowed her eyes on the boy. "As I said, it won't escape. What do you think is around you? We wouldn't be so careless to bring one in and not take safety measures!"
The boy flinched, regretting speaking. He simply asked a question, the teacher didn't have to get so mad!
"There's a magical barrier surrounding this room," a voice spoke up.
Lia smiled, but her eyes were cold. "Elaine, right? I'm glad you noticed, after all, you have 1,812 spiritual power."
The girl glanced at Lia but didn't say anything else. Lia inwardly expressed her disdain for Elaine and continued on.
"Although it's only the first day, I will teach you how to expel Predators like this. I will expel the Predators myself and you all will practice on objects. This is a level four Predator that's been extremely weakened, so even if it gets out, it won't do much harm. Perhaps Miss Elaine could help us too."
The students grew excited and whispered among themselves. Elaine, however, didn't seem to be as excited and stared at the Predators.
"Teacher Tortez, who gets to decide what Predators are used as experiments?" Elaine spoke.
"All of this goes through the headmaster and others, but the teachers are the ones who get to pick. This means I chose this Predators, which is suitable for a class with the strongest students. Why do you ask?"
